Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a RB AGS 000 H E-ring of VVS1 clarity.
When viewed from the sides, especially on a white background, I can see what looks like a horizontal line running through the pavilion about halfway down.
Is this an expected visual effect of the main pavilion facets & lower girdle facets coming together?
It should not be an inclusion in a VVS1 and I would imagine if it is a crack then the whole bottom part would have fallen off?.
please let me know what you guys think this might be.

ps we just had it cleaned so I don''t think that is the cause.

Most likely the reflection of the girdle.

This is perfectly normal.
Enjoy your diamond.

Definitely sounds like girdle reflection, I will post a photo for you-

Here you go. These photos are of Loki's ring, I know they were worried about the same thing - it happens a lot!

Yes, the previous posters are correct, what you are seeing is a reflection of the girdle. It is the causer of MUCH concern and panicked late night calls from many a client, to the point where I try to tell my in house clients about it and show it to them when they are looking at the diamond, not after they find it at home in the middle of the night...

and the picture - yes it looks very much like that.

I was 99% sure it wasn''t something wrong but I still couldn''t figure out what it was.
My theory on the main pavilion facets & lower girdle facets being the cause didn''t sit right with me because they don''t (or shouldn''t

) line up in such a way.

Girdle reflection makes MUCH more sense as the "line" is parallel to it. Now I know what it is called lol - hard to do a search for a topic when you don''t know what to call it.
