Well, since I have been in 11, yes, I said 11! weddings, I have had my fair share of ugly gowns. I in fact just donated several of them to Goodwill...I should've taken a picture of them all together before I let them go!
Most of the ugly ones were very shiny satin...just say no to shiny satin, I say!
A few were lovely, and one in particular, while I never did get to wear it as an outfit again, I did get to use the black backless velvet tuxedo halter top as part of a little Playboy Bunny Halloween costume I threw together at the last minute years ago! I wore it when I was 19 and still have it in hopes of being a bunny one of these years again! I am determined to get more use out of that dang thing!
Unfortunately, I only have pix of my previous BM dresses and the bunny costume on old film/hard copy pictures, but I may have to try my hand at scanning again so that you can see the possibilities that abound from BM dresses!
For my girls, I bought them their dresses at ROSS...there are two styles as shown below, and one of the wider strapped dresses (on the left) has been made into a halter and one of the spaghetti strap dresses (on the right) will be criss-crossed in the back so that all 4 dresses are different, yet the same.
The girls all loved them, which surprised me, but they do seem to flatter all of their figures and the color is good for all of them, which are 2 blondes, a brunette and a redhead. Who knows, maybe they just liked them because they don't have to pay for them and I told them to throw them away when they're done with them for all I care!
Here is a picture of the 2 styles of dresses with the men's shirt in the middle:
ETA: I did have my MOH and one of the bridesmaids try the dresses on and asked for their honest opinions before I settled on them. I then sent my other bridesmaid both styles to choose from and she liked them both, too, so it worked out all around!
