honest opinion needed - sidestones too large?

I looked at the photos in your other thread. I think the proportions are perfect for your center stone. I do not see a marquise in that setting at all. It''s a beautiful ring

I agree that is does look a lot like Kaleigh's. I do not think the sidestones are too large and i think frankiextah's ring is gorgeous as it, but since she said she felt they might be too big I did want point out that the Tiffany version like Kaleighs do have a slightly smaller pears/center stone ratio which I would probably prefer too. But it's absolutely beautiful as is.

frankixtah's your ring really is gorgeous as is and I don't see the marquis at all, just lots of beautiful bling and I hope I didn't offend you in my earlier comment

I agree with the highlighted. It is a beautiful look that your ring has, but it is different than the look of smaller sides and different than the look of a solitaire. You seem to voice two concerns. First, that the sides are too big making it look like a marquise. Solve this with smaller sides. The second concern seems to be that the center looks smaller than it is. I think that is best solved by making it a solitaire! If I am totally honest, I do think that the current setting detracts a little from the center stone. It is a "finger of bling" look, which is beautiful and bold but thus look typically doesn''t highlight a center stone. My personal preference is to make the center stand out. But you need to do what makes you happy! If this ring ain''t it, then change it!
 
I think your ring is beautifully proportioned. It has wonderful finger coverage. But like others have said it is entirely up to you and you have to be happy with it.
 
Persoanlly I love it as is.

i had some fun and photoshoped 0.25ct round sidestones onto the photo of my current e-ring!

what do you all think? i really love the round sides now... there is more curvature on the sides, giving the center stone more visibility...

rounds with pear sidestones, however I do think the round sidestones make your center stone pop more than in your current setting.
 
You know I''ve never been much of a fan of big sidestones on a ring, but yours don''t look too big to me. Your center stone is so large, I think it balances the sides out pretty well. Of course, though...it''s your ring so all that matters is what YOU like.
 
Truthfully, I think your ring is GORGEOUS now! There is no way that I think changing to round sidestones is going to make the ring prettier. But to each his (or her) own, of course!

I agree. It looks wonderful to me as it is. But if you have been bothered for a long time then decide on the change carefully.
 
I think it''s more the setting, the round ends of the pear seem to sit under the edge of the centre stone, meaning they merge into one rather than being 3 distinct stones, you don''t see where the centre ends and the pears begin. Maybe if it was reset with more separation, but that might mean the pears are too large and will ''hang over'' the sides of the fingers.
 
I think you may be having kind of the same dilemma as me! I recently upgraded to a 1.7 center stone and I really love the look of my setting but when I look at the ring on my finger, I just don''t feel like my stone pops enough. I have much smaller side stones than you and a different type of setting, but I think I''m just really wanting a whole different look to highlight my center stone. I''ve tried on a Tiffany solitare with the same size stone and it was stunning. I am seriously considering going with that setting. i would urge you to try one on, because it may just be a whole different look you are wanting. I think if you want to stick with the three stone look, your ring is just gorgeous the way it is.
