Holiday decorations!

Distracts your bunny is so cute, I want to smuggle it home.

OMG!!! Distracts, your pet decorations are SOOOOOOO CUTE!!!! I could just scoop up the jingle dog and squeeze him/her!!! (clearly, the dog looks about as thrilled with the collar as your FI does!!) and the bunny shots.... tooooooo cute!! So precious!!

I'm going to hunt down something for our dogs - you have me inspired!

Just bought the two little mini pre lit trees today and they are in our dining room. The mantle, mirrored table and close up shots are of the turquoise decorations that were supposed to be going on my 10-12' white tree... which is apparently not coming this year. :blackeye:

Had to make due with the black one I've used for the past few years...

This is our 6' black prelit tree. This year, I have silver & white decorations with a few bronze sprigs and then when the white tree fell thru, I put a few turquoise items on it.

I have 2 feathered trees - one that is on the piano along with silver shimmery lidded containers and a purple one that I hung some mirrored 'disco ball' ornaments on. I love little trees!!! If only these had lights on them... that would be AMAZING!

Everybody has such beautiful trees! After seeing the first part of this thread I ran out and got some ribbon for mine, tried for hours to artfully drape it, swag it and wind it around, knocked more then a few balls off, broke one and ended up with a tree that looked like it was tied up and being held hostage so I took it off and threw it in the christmas boxes, maybe next year  So after refluffing here are two pics for Haven :wavey:

First one with flash,

And this one without,

And here mother nature decided to embellish on my outside decor, there was not a spec of snow here yesterday, just dry brown, we are now in a winter wonderland, I heard that some areas got 16 inches, I think we probably got about 10 - 12", you can faintly see on the split rail fence I have lights twined with garland across the top of the fence, it is so pretty with the lights glowing through the snow!

Can I come live with you for the holidays?

Enerchi, your decorations and house are absolutely stunning!

Artdecogirl, ribbons are tricksy. Your tree looks beautiful without one though. And WHOA SNOW.

:appl: :appl: :appl: come on up!!! Distracts, come too!!! We'll have a Christmas PS party at my place! DH will keep us well fed (and wined!) and we can decorate the trees with all of our bling --- AWESOME!!!! Come on up!! (Did I mention that Eastern Ontario is not the warmest of vacation spots from about December to March??? Dress warmly!)

We also got a whack of snow last night but now its being shellac-ed in freezing rain. oh .. fun... not...

Enerchi! Love that turquoise and black tree! LOVE

Target has little LED sets that you could put on the feather trees if you wanted them even MORE festive :D

OOOH a decorating party? :D Eastern Ontario... does that mean the GTA or closer to Ottawa?

ADG - What a lovely tree! Love the shape of it and the colored lights. Snow! You're lucky... we've had a total of 6 inches here... NEED MORE SNOW!!!

Enerchi - very pretty! I love your little disco ball. About six years ago or something, I was at World Market/Cost Plus and they had packages of disco ball ornaments, so we have six of those on our tree. They're slightly smaller than the one you have! I love that they reflect the christmas lights and brighten up the tree! (I wish I had bought two boxes of them!)

Yup, no longer in the GTA any longer... We don't have a Target here yet (they are coming to Canada soon), but I did find a few strings of mini battery operated lights in the basement, I should check out - how cool to have the feather ones light up! I think I'll try the purple one first --- we don't have enough bling going on in the family room, where as the living room has the tree in it... Good idea - thanks Davi!

Just want to say I've been lurking and loving this thread! I can't get enough of these awesome holiday decoration photos!

I love this thread. I love seeing everyone's decorations! We still haven't decorated yet. Not that we do much, but we really need to get on the ball.

We have no snow waaaaaaaaah! ;(

It's zero degrees though. So we just have cold. Humph. :angryfire:

All the holiday pet outfits came from the dollar section at Target and together cost less than $5, which I thought was a sweet deal since the pet store sells similar stuff for a lot more. And good luck scooping up the dog - she weighs 70 lbs! She somehow looks smaller in pictures than she is in real life, but in real life she's gigantic and regal.

I agree. I say all the time that she's the best thing $40 has ever gotten me! (Well, $40 for Gwen, $300 for the cage-palace, and god knows how much in food and litter and vet bills! But priceless amounts of joy and cuddling.)

heee, thank you! Gwen is definitely the most adorable creature on the planet. Objectively so. I couldn't possibly be biased, could I be?

Here is a picture of Gwen from last Christmas:

And here is one from the Christmas before:

I posted earlier in the thread but my pics were taken at night. I wanted to post a day time one because it looks so much different but still so pretty. I still need to add the tree skirt, oops. Finding any stretch of uninterrupted time to decorate is no easy task with a kid now.

Gah!!!! Distracts! I can't get over how cute your bunny is! I keep visiting the thread to see if you posted any new pics! I've officially gone bunny stalker status!

Cute bunnies and great decorations! Enerchi, love your stuff! :)

You are in the UK aren't you? I took my children to the doctor this morning and it was minus 6!! I live in Bedfordshire and in the middle of nowhere. I hate the winter ;(

Does anyone have any idea how to make the Xmas tree last longer? We got ours about a week ago and it's already yellowing/ drying out :knockout: . We water it at the base like once or twice a week and I don't know whether it's too much or too little. I read that maybe popping in an aspirin may help but am worried our cat may drink the water and get poisoned! :nono:

It's too dry. You need to a. make sure that it's able to receive water (is the bottom of the trunk flush with the stand, or does it have access to the water?) and b., water it every day. A tree that is yellowing/drying out is in dire need of water!

Ah, I see. I shall water it every day then. Yes, there's a stand with a sort of a bowl at the bottom to hold water.

Since you're being so helpful, may I also ask: how often should one water poinsettias and should they be in the shade or do they need direct sun?

Thank you.

Sap has already probably formed and is blocking the tree's access to water. Really the only way to help it at this point is to recut the bottom.

Our decorations are pretty much the same, except my sister got me these really cute retro wooden decorations

I just wanted to post a pet picture. Our dog with his rawhide bone, which he gets once or twice a year. When he gets one he spends the first day carrying it from place to place, a little afraid someone will take it? before he settles down to chew it.
