Hi There,

New to this and any other forum. If you know of a better place for me to ask, let me know.

What is this? A necklace I think. Where did it originate? Yemeni, Egypt, Asian? I do not know. What is it composed of? jade? malachite? carnelian? what type of clasp should it have? Your expertise is needed because I am stumped.

Thanks,

Dan

I don't know country of origin, but I think I can give my opinion of the stones.
The metal is either silver or silver plate. Is there a mark anywhere that might confirm this?
The orange stones look like amber to me. Amber develops hairline cracks with age, which these stones have.
The middle bead is made of some type of crushed and formed stone. Maybe turquoise, maybe not. Hard to say.

Agree with the amber. The green doesn't quite look like malachite to me.

I don’t think the green stone is malachite either. The orange pieces could also be carnelian. The findings make me think North Africa/Morocco etc, which would argue for Amber rather than carnelian.
