Hi PS community!
I was hunting a diamond to surprise propose my gf. :shhh:
I want give my best effort and best diamond I could find.
After failed to find gem appraiser in my area, I buy an ideal scope.
Unfortunately I didn't buy ASET scope.
When I visit few local store, most of diamond have light leakage and easy to eliminate.
I didn't expected it will be very easy to use even for first-timer like me.

Then I got these 2 stones that seems have potential, but it still didn't sure which one is the best.
It seems both under "ideal category" in ideal scope reference chart.
So I grab my iphone to take 2 pictures each diamond, I hope that you can help me and share your experience and knowledge,
Before I buy one of these stones. (both within my budget)

My Question:
1. Let's say I put you in my shoes and should pick one, which stone do you pick? Any reason?
2. This is the first time I will buy a diamond in my life, is it a good price for this diamond quality?
3. Just curious, did you notice in the last picture, red color really bright exactly outside table ring? it's look like a people iris from afar. What is it?
4. Any comments or suggestion? I'm open minded person

Phew! Thank you for read my long post...
Really appreciate every help I can get, hope that your kindness will return to you and your family..

My Question:

I would go with the first one. These are typical angles we see for well cut stones. The second stone has a low crown angle
32.5 which usually reduces fire. I like fire. I see that it scored an Excellent for fire though...would be nice if Garry H. could
comment on the fire rating here.

2. This is the first time I will buy a diamond in my life, is it a good price for this diamond quality?
The prices seem typical. I checked them against James Allen and the prices you are getting are good.

To be honest I can't really tell much from the aset images. They both look decent to me but I can't see any fine detail so probably
shouldnt comment.

Hi,

Both looks good from the IS images.
Different characteristics though, #1 is closer to ideal H&A, #2 is a 60/60 diamond.

You mentioned local store. You don't have ASET scope, but you have your eyes.
Do a blind test, ask the associate/advisor to show both stones w/o telling you which one is which and pick one you like better (if possible at an area of the store that doesn't get exposed too much by the store lighting).

I remember they have a normal office room with big window, i'll try to do the blind test in that room near the window...
Really good idea D_, din't think about blind test earlier...

If you can see them in real life, choose what you love more.

If it were me, I'd pick the first stone as the proportions are more complimentary and I like to see a bit of dispersion.

The second stone has a very shallow crown angle. It will appear fairly flat topped from the side. You will get a bright stone but it will be at the expense of fire.

The first one.
