TL - the diamond isn't big enough to be set like that I don't think. It's just under 6mm.

MoZo - I agree about the industrial look.

VL - I'm afraid that this is a one-off - just one of those lucky finds. I've never bought from this seller before so I'm slightly nervous but he was very good at answering my hundreds of questions!

FK - I agree that it would be stunning and if you look at the beginning of the thread, I linked to one very similar that I've loved for ages. However, I don't think the diamond is big enough. The older I've got, the bigger I like my jewellery and I don't often stack so I need rings to give me finger coverage!

Crasru - Clever you putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with diamond!

Jstar - I think this has to be a ring BUT I could be persuaded when it arrives!

Iolitedreamer - glad you like my heart. It becomes addictive looking through threads and you'll get so many ideas! It's not good for your health I'm afraid!!!!!

Shiney - will you STOP suggesting what things look like! I've now completely off the bulky ring and am back to my original heart suspended between 2 bands. Now, if you think it looks like something (toilet roll holder or something) PLEASE don't say!

I don't think it's that small for that setting, especially if you get a very thin, delicate shank.

I really don't think you could go wrong with the suspended-between-two-diamond-bands idea. The only thing you might need to tweak is metal used and color of the melee to maximize the steely heart.

I like the Etoile idea, how about using blackened metal as a base. My other favourite is your wedding band with diamond edging idea. I love the heart by the way, very sophisticated.

Brushed metal would also be nice with it. I think platinum would be the perfect metal of choice as it does get a greyish patina over time, but I do understand why you would want to use highly polished/reflective white metal.

If I use the eternity bands I'm a bit stuck with the metal BUT what I might do is the prongs for the diamond in blackened metal (possibly rhodium plated to black). Not sure how that would look so I'm going to wait until it's in my hand!

I adore Forte's ring, so that would be my vote. In rose gold so the grey diamond stands out! Brushed finish too!

I am one of the few on PS that actually likes heart shaped stones so I really like your diamond. It is very cool looking. Of the rings posted I like the bezel set, the dark platinum diamond accent band and the 2 diamond band with the heart set in between them. I can't wait to see how you end up setting it.

Very cool stone! I normally don't like heart-shaped stones but I would definitely wear this one. I like the bezeled setting that ForteKitty posted and I also like the 2 that Aoife posted, but like TL stated, a thin shank would look best for the LM one. Can't wait to see what you decide!

I think pink diamonds melees in rose gold metal will be great for that smoky gray diamond but I know you are just going to puke at that suggestion. I don’t think a shiny white metal or colourless diamond will go well with it because it has too much contrast for me. I like the idea of a burnished finish or gunmetal coloured metal which will play up the FCD.

I really need to design something with a view that I will be able to wear it and match other items of jewellery. Therefore brushed/burnished metal are probably non-starters.

What I have found tucked away are two black diamond eternity bands (very slim round brilliant cuts) on w/gold. So I'm wondering whether to incorporate those as well as the white diamond eternity bands? I think I have to wait until the diamond arrives and then play around - will take some photos and get your suggestions then!

Arc - I don't care if it would look good in rose gold. I don't like rose gold! That means I wouldn't wear it. Soooooooo it's not an option whether it would suit the stone or not! I also can't bear mixing colours (generally speaking although I have made exceptions) so again, pink accent stones are never going to happen - it's just NOT an option.

When I design a setting it has to be something that I can get a lot of wear out of (not just occasional wear). I also need it to co-ordinate.

See? I told you I was a control freak!!!
