IL sent out a level 3 covid restriction allert to everyone`s cell phone.
My area has been under level 3 for around 2 weeks now.
It spooked a lot of people the stores are packed and no tp\water\wipes to be found.
TP crazy part 2 is officially on in my area.

They're out of stock on a bunch of food where I am too. No chicken for us this week I guess lol. Super thankful I was able to get a turkey from a different store so we can still get meat for the week and Thursday.

This is terrible.
What a hassle!

I've just stopped pooping. :(sad

I was at Sam's club yesterday and felt so bad for an elderly man who was on the phone with his wife asking about TP. There were 4 toilet paper bundles left in the store. The most expensive brand. He was asking her if he should buy it and I felt it was an issue of money. Paper towels were gone too.

Hoarding is bad. Being reasonably prepared is good. You can make your own survival stash of food that is much cheaper and more practical than the survival food kits they sell online. Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers will keep most of your dry food good for years. A good selection of canned meats, soups, and pastas are great for times when the power is out.

My sympathies @Karl_K wth people do with the toilet paper between this time and last time is beyond me. Here they kept the limits in place mostly but even here where theres no lockdown (just lots of vactioners and snowbirds) some stores are bare. We're mostly set. what will be a bit of an issue might be some fresh food items but will figure it out as always.

People are thick
didn't they learn last time
shop normally and there is enough to go around
Our big supermarket in town doesn't do 4 packs any more but our smaller suburban supernarket still does

SMH. What are people doing with the TP they are hoarding?

Have to laugh because the alternative isn't as much fun.

I hate to hear about this. It's just makes things so tough for people who can't shop regularly.

Since our first hard lockdown in the UK when everyone went stockpile mad, all stores put limits on certain goods, such as only 2 packets of toilet roll, 2 bags of pasta or rice etc, and they left them in place. It helped to stop the hoarding madness & now we're in lockdown 2, supermarket shelves are plentiful & people are being civilised now that they know they will be able to wipe their arse & the world isn't going to end.

Let's hope that our fellow Americans follow suit. Common sense is so not common these days. Everyone remain calm and we will get through this.

It sure did, but only thanks to the stores being quite firm & confiscating at the checkouts. For a while our supermarket had staff going up & down with trolleys to collect all the things the checkouts had refused to allow customers to take, then go put them back on the shelves. I didn't see any grown men crying, but I did see a man look like the checkout lady had slapped his face when she took 2 bottles of wine off him as he was only allowed 3

I always have a stockpile of paper goods and have for years, I keep my family and extended family in TP & paper towels when all this craziness happens, I am a really good couponer and I save us money and any time someone needs anything they go to mom's "store" lol, its one of my hobbies to see how cheap I can get stuff. The only thing you cant hoard of course is fresh foods so for the most part that is all we should need during this lockdown...

I love the idea of couponing, as it's not something that happens here. We can watch US programmes about it though & it's ridiculously addictive viewing! I've just checked & it's on tv at this very moment

Costco rocks. They have sales every month and you don’t need the hard copy coupons. They just automatically give you the sales price if you’re purchasing it during their sale.

I've just watched a woman shopping, with 2 huge folders propped on the trolley, meticulous with coupons and she got a shop of $134 for -$0.75 !

That’s a serious couponer!

She’s my hero.

I wish I had the energy to execute this level of couponing. I used to clip them and accidentally leave them in my purse for two months until they were expired.

IN borders IL and wow, no TP or PT here either despite no OMG WARNING ALARM texts. This has become so next-level annoying. Calm down, people. Also I refuse to play the coupon game. What a freaking racket.

(Hello, COVID Fatigue.)

I can't do the serious level of couponing because it can take a lot of time. My biggest worry is my dogs food as its home made. I buy in bulk but only about a month or so in advance.

That and wtf is up with pearled barley missing this year? I usually have it on hand but its been MIA pretty much most of the year!

Good luck with the dog food
i also had trouble getting pearl barley for a few months this past winter - Soup season was almost over before it finally appeared
I think some of the delay was the major/only? manufacture of it here had to direct all its attention to making rolled oats as that was one of the products no one could keep up with durring lock down

@Karl_K , I’m hoping the Emergency Phone Alert just panicked people temporarily. It‘s jarring to hear the empergency warning alarms. Hopefully the panicking will stop quickly so everyone is able to get what they need from the grocery stores.

Please stay safe and healthy everyone.

I have it shut off on my phone.
To many bogus Amber allerts and its the same setting on my phone to shut them off.

@Karl-k , I only get them if there is a child abduction or a funnel cloud spotted in our area. I think they scare me because they are so rare.

PrePandemic ours were for volcanos and other natural disasters

For some reason I was getting a ton of Amber (child abduction, 99.999% parents fighting over visitation) alerts 2-3 a day and some 200+ miles away. My Wifey's phone gets one a month at most. The only thing I can figure out is I have location services shut off on my phone so no app can get my location.
I'm not turning location service on for anything, so I just turned all alerts off.

I have to admit, I really really like toilet paper

:mrgreen2:
Im glad Gary had opened the months old emergency 4 pack last night

Its stronger, not as soft

Borris doesn't seem to like the cheaper kitty litter and left me a present in the bath last night

im not complaining
Its nice and easy to clean up - she went right by the plug hole
I think she likes the privacy of the shower curtain

I’m in the Chicago suburbs. I got the covid tier 3 warning on my phone as well. It was pretty startling.
