i have the wedding ring belonged to henry darnley who married mary queen of scots about 500 years ago. im not sure where to go to get this ring looked at becuase all i've seen is a replica that was made of it for a museum. does anyone know about this ring or can direct me to somone who might know?

Honestly? I'd probably contact the museum, at least for authentication. I imagine they'd be better equipped to advise you as to specific auction houses, but after that, I imagine it's be a quick trip to Sotheby's or somesuch. Alternately - I am assuming you are in the UK given the provenance of the item - try some of the high-end vintage jewelry shops? Shreve, Crump and Lowe, SJ Phillips, Bentley Skinner ...? Would definitely get comparison quote if I went that route, though.
