Hi gals, can you help me out please?

I posted a thread recently about the Vatche Charis for my princess cut diamond. The problem is since I'm setting a princess in it and that's not the norm, I think this is considered non-returnable. That makes me really nervous. Especially because I know they've done it for princess cuts, but I can't get any photos of the profile to see what it looks like.
Also I've started noticing that the stock photos really don't match the customer photos. For instance, how about this customer photo which looks like the diamond is set really high right? Now that may have been a customer request but IDK.

upload_2018-1-5_14-20-43.png Also a couple more photos and the stock photo lastly

There aren't many profile shots like this so it's hard to know what it'll look like. I'm feeling uneasy and should i spend $1700 if I'm unsure?? (Making it for princess cut vs. round also increased the price.) I already paid but they're holding off on sending it in until my questions are answered. Maybe I should hold off until Monday. I just want my ring! But I want it right.

Someone is supposed to call me back in a bit here so I can discuss this with them.

I am thinking again about the James Allen petite pave. They were able to send me a photo of what a princess cut head would look like. Main problem is that it's 1.8mm wide!!! (1.6-1.8 widest) Is that too thin? It's also much less expensive (by about $700).
My stone is 1.195 carats.

Advice?

The photo differences can be a little unnerving so I understand your reservations! I would ask specifically if the setting is non-returnable so you know that info up front and can decide if it's worth it in the event it's not what you imagined. I also like to be very, very specific with how I want my stone set. Ie, low as possible, how much space between the base of the head and where the culet will be, etc. Have it in writing in an email correspondence so you can refer to it if things aren't the way you asked for them to be. I don't think you should spend any money if you aren't sure!! It's good to parse this all out ahead of time and not hope for the best. Also see what your options are if you're not satisfied so you can have assurances for yourself.

Do you want those prongs or do you want V prongs for a princess cut?

Thank you!
I just got the call back and it is returnable. Of course I'm hoping to love it and don't' want to go through all that, but it does give me peace of mind.
I am going to send a few more photos and be as descriptive as possible and they're going to send those to Vatche as well. I think that's all I can do.. She said she'd make a note to set as low as possible. Since I'm a novice, I don't know if that'll be too low? I don't want the culet touching my shank so, should I just say "set low" ?

I want V prong and they have a good pic of that to attach too.

Thank you for your help. This is so tough!!!!

Oh that's all good news!! Photos and being descriptive is very helpful. Low as possible is usually with the culet just above the donut or shank if theres's not donut. Vatche wouldn't make the culet actually touch anything but if it makes you feel better, just clarify you want it low but don't want the culet touching the shank. Or you can say you want it set low with a small amount of space (1mm) between the culet and the shank ;)2. I think you're fine though. And great about the V prong (assuming they already know that, lol)!

I think it's going to look beautiful! Come back and share some pictures when you get it!!

Edited to say.....do you actually want your stone set low? I made that an example, but lots of people like the stone set at a medium height or even high. It's all preference and up to you of course!

I will definitely share pictures! It will be the first Charis princess cut posted to the internet. Trust me, I've searched LOL.

Re: stone set low - I don't really know, but I think so. The JA photo I posted above is set low right? I like that. When I spoke to her on the phone, she said she'd note to set it as low as possible and I don't know if that's what I want. I do know the picture of it set high is way too high for me.

The stock photos have the stone set more of a medium-high. The culet isn't coming down lower than the V bar. The close up photo with the purple flower appears to have the stone set low but it's hard to tell for sure as we aren't seeing the gallery completely. The top photo with the bands in the picture has the stone set very high which I don't recommend for functional reasons.

And yes, sorry, the JA stone looks low :).

What do you prefer? When the stone is set higher up it appears larger. Some don't like very low set stones because they feel it looks squat. Judging by the JA photo, you would prefer the stone to be set low.

@JDDN I prefer it low but not "too low"
I dont know if that makes sense. Should i maybe say low-medium.
I don't want to block the light for the diamond either.

Do you think the first photo makes the stone appear larger? (Still don't want that high, just wondering.)

I'm trying to find a photo of a low-medium setting, maybe that would be best.

Because the head sits on top of the shank, I think low is probably better.

Do you have an opinion? I'm open to it;)

I think the stone height depends on how active you are with your hands and how you'd like it to look. A high set stone as more risk of chipping, or damage to the head or girdle, but if you really baby it it will likely be okay. Personally I like my stones to be set low but that is because I have 2 little ones and I need things to be low profile and easy to wear. Plus I manage to knock my rings no matter what! I also like the way it looks better on my hand. The JA stone is set low. If you want you could ask for it to be set low-medium with just a little space under the culet. But yes, if you find a photo of the height you like then that's a great comparison for Vatche.

Also, when set high, the stone appears 'bigger' when you view it directly overhead, not from the side ;)2.

Ok thanks. I would like to assume the setter would find the right balance too, but IDK. lol
I did specify low with a small space.
I can't do too high, I will definitely damage it.
Thanks;)

Sure! You can also ask WF how Vatche 'normally' sets the stones. I think it's a medium low, but don't quote me on that, lol. I think you'll be happy when you see your beautiful ring!!

There are pictures of the Charis with a princess cut on the internet...just maybe not the view you are after.

Yes you’re right. I’m looking for hand shots, real life shots ;)

It is very pretty however it is set too high for me and unfortunately WF can’t lower it for me due to the gallery bar. I am getting the Harmony legato instead.

I wished I could have seen these profile views before ordering, that would’ve helped me see this ring is set too high for me (I did ask for it set LOW). Anyways I am in love with the legato after seeing this one in person and I know I’ll love it. Hopefully these will help someone!

here it is!

I loooove my new diamond. It’s whiter than my last ACA H (this is an H VVS2) 1.195 carat princess ACA.

After more research and before seeing this one I thought I would really like a 3 Chevron (this is 2) and I’ll be on the lookout for one but now seeing it, I don’t know if I can ever part with it. I love it! I just love princess cuts. It sparkles beautifully and is so white I’m so amazed!
