Hello all,
I've been browsing this forum for a while and think I am finally ready to buy a ring. My girlfriend and I have talked about the styles of rings she likes and I think I've decided that I will be purchasing this James Allen pave engagement ring in rose gold.

https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/pave/14k-rose-gold-petite-pave-crown-diamond-engagement-ring-item-53125

Now I'm running into a couple of things, however:

First- I've been looking at this ring for I guess around a month now and it's been listed at $1,490... now when I finally have a day off work that I was going to dedicate to shop for a diamond the setting is $1,650 :angryfire: . Is there any way that you guys think they would match that at all or work with me on price if I get the diamond from them as well?

Second- I've read and read some more on here about rose gold with diamonds and that you can maybe get away with a little color in the diamond if you are purchasing a rose gold setting. My questions is exactly how much color should I allow? My search parameters on the JA website are set as follows at the moment

Shape: Round
Clarity: VVS2 or higher
Cut: True Hearts

I'd like to get her at least a carat or as close as I can get to it but I'd deally like to keep it as close to $7K or $8K if at all possible and only one diamond is coming up at the moment in "I" color, the selection really broadens when I change the color to J but I want to be absolutely sure that the diamond will face up white. I've seen forums and pictures with beautiful J colored diamonds in rose gold settings but I feel as though it has to be the correct color- almost a faint brownish color not a yellowish tint- any suggestions on going a different route or suggestions on diamonds for that setting would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm so happy to have found this forum full of you kind people and look forward to your responses. :)

Broaden your search in terms of clarity unless there are cultural reasons for the high clarity. VS stones are almost always going to be eye clean and you can definitely find SI1 stones that are eye clean as well. You can get a really nice I colored stone this way.

If you're set on True Hearts...

AGS Ideal stone, 1.14ct I SI1 (i would ask about the feather on the table but when i zoom out it is not visible.)

Whiteflash stone (which is a super ideal and WF has an excellent upgrade program) 1.013ct I SI1 - says eye clean

with one of these settings

Thank you for your response, Farrah. I will broaden my search like you suggested as inclusions do not matter too terribly much to me as long as the diamond looks eye clean. I've seen the settings you suggested from WF and I originally wanted to go with them as I am in Houston but my gf has pretty specific taste and has been hinting at that JA setting. Open to any other suggestions as well, everyone. :)

Definitely stick with VS2 or an eye clean SI1

I'm not an expert but the stone looks nice and a better compromise on color and clarity. Best to get your lady what she wants!

Love the setting and great choice on the stone. Don't forget to show us the finished product :)
