Hi Everyone,
I'm about to have my 10 year anniversary, and I am dying to get my ring redone. I love the center stone, it's a 2 carat round, but the mounting is so heavy. It is set in prongs and has so much platinum in it. I absolutely love the Harry Winston The One ring that I've seen. Obviously I'm not going to Harry Winston. Can anyone refer me to a custom designer who can make me this ring, preferable in California where I am from.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to contact the 2 vendors in LA, does anyone have any personal experience working with Victor Canera or Maytal Hannah? Is their work and pricing comparable? I would love to see some photos of rings that people had made for them if anyone can share. I really love cushion shapes, but I have a round stone. What about putting a cushion shaped halo around the stone--will that look weird?

I looked through the websites and am going to contact Victor and Maytal, if anyone has had any personal experience with either of them please let me know. Is one better than the other? Is one more expensive than the other? I really love the cushion shape, but I think it might not match the round diamond. Has anyone had a cushion border made for a round diamond? I think I want to use the small diamonds that I have in my current ring, is that an option? Any photos or advice would be great, I'm a bit scared of making a custom ring without knowing exactly what it's going to look like in the end.

You have not mentioned your budget nor your preference for handforged or CAD/cast custom work. Without knowing this, I am unsure which vendors to recommend. The former is at least $5K, the latter is around $3K.
 
I had a chance to go visit Maytal at her office this week, and I gave her my rings to remake! I am so excited, she was so easy to work with so far, and gave me many great ideas. I have decided to go with a cushion halo border around my round stone. I am going to go with a "thicker" band, I don't want something overly delicate. I'm not sure if I want a band to go with it, I am going to probably wait until I get the ring back. I'm so excited!
 
I got my ring back from Maytal Hannah! I love it, it is perfect--so delicate yet looks nice and big on my finger. You can only see diamonds, barely any metal. Thanks so much for all the help. Here is a before and after pic.

I get so many compliments on my ring all the time, I truly can't believe that it is the same ring. I never wore it before, and now I wear it every day. I will post more pics shortly.
