Hi everyone ! I have a slight problem..... Im planning on proposing to my girlfriend in november, I have now organised everything for the proposal but now have read alot of bad things referring to Fay Cullen, where i thought id found the perfect ring :(
This is the ring

now my problem is I would love to find a ring like this but have struggled so far. I thought this would be a good place to ask if anyone can reccomend a ring or place to find one ?

Thankyou for reading and i hope someone can help.

I would check "Jewels by Erica Grace"

Single Stone makes reproduction rings, and also sells antique/vintage rings. They have a great record here on PS, and are very responsive to emails.

Here are some examples that are along the lines of what you've posted:

I think your choice is perfect! Don't worry about comments. Fay Cullen sold the most beautiful ring and the setting is to die for!

welshjoe that diamond is very poorly cut and I suspect the whole thing way overpriced. It is also a modern cut, do you want that?

Fay Cullen sure gives a wide range about what the specks of the diamonds may be.

I agree with Aprilbaby the grading certificate is a cause for concern. I think Jewels by Erica Grace is a great suggestion!

I'm one of the people who has had a bad experience with FC. She was great and communicated until the money was paid. We were told a range for the stone, but the stone is probably not the same quality as sold to use. I don't know if their return policy has changed, but it wasn't very good at the time. We had a similar budget to you.

What about this: http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3078

Actually, there are a few I like on Etsy for about 1/2 carat and under $2,000.
This was my search, but I didn't go through all 32 pages: http://www.etsy.com/search/vintage?search_submit=&q=engagement+ring&view_type=gallery

Everyone has great advice. Definitely figure out if modern or Old cut or either works for you. That will make a difference.

JbEG, Singlestone and Leigh Jay Nacht are all great. I just recently was in contact with all of them. I went the second hand Ebay route with the diamond and set it in a new setting by Leigh Jay Nacht. I just got it back and love it.

LJN has a few options in close budget, or drop all an email and see what they can do for you.

Or look at finding the right diamond and then the right setting.
something like this?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/64-CT-LOOSE...se_Diamonds&hash=item19c81e2a87#ht_500wt_1202

This seems similar- i know they will make any of the reproductions for different size stones.

Rubylane also has vintage/estate/ older styles item. I would check them out too

Dont be afraid to make an offer if something is just outside your budget.
