I am looking to purchase a blue/green tourmaline for an East-West right hand ring and was hoping to get a little help as I’ve never purchased tourmaline before. There are three I’m considering right now and wanted to get some opinions on them or if I should be looking at something completely different.

3.82ct (I love the deep cut corners on this one)

2.51ct (not sure about the inclusions in this one)

TIA!

I love the first one

I also prefer the first one--the color does look prettier and I love the cut.

You should get sunlight and indoor photos. Some indicolite tourmaline blacks out in sunlight.

I have a few stones from him. All are gorgeous, but they do tend to look lighter and brighter, plus the color is more defined, in his pictures.

Which is why the vendor vs your photos thread is so vital!

Based on the rest of the photo, these look over-sharpened with excessive added saturation and contrast. I infer your stone will not look this nice. There's a fine line between tweaking your photo to make sure that it is accurate and tweaking your photo to make the stone looks as good as possible.

It looks beautiful! Get a video in normal indoor lighting and in shadowed indoor lighting, and make sure you like the color it appears there. I bought a greenish blue tourmaline recently and the appearance matched those less staged videos.

Thanks all! I’ve ordered the first one so I could see it in person since I was really drawn to that one. I’ll be back with photos :)

I’m back with photos (I thought taking good pictures of diamonds was hard, but this is worse) I’m really liking what I see in person and love the shape! Ignore the dry wrinkly hand :???:

Thanks for sharing. It is good that you like the stone. I like to take the photos of my stone in the gem jar indoor.
