Hi there! First time posting here, so hopefully I am doing this right. I am looking for an oval in the 2 carat range, and I found this oval at whiteflash that ranks in their "expert selection" category with asset images and it seems to have great stats:

I would love an expert opinion though, since I am very new at this! My budget is up to 17K for the diamond, but would rather spend less. I am not the wearer and this is a surprise, but she has told me that she loves Blake Lively's engagement ring, which is why I am focusing on an oval. If it were up to me, I would choose a round brilliant because there seem to be more well cut rounds out there.

Have you checked out the Ideal cut Ovals Jonathan is having cut through his AV line? They have ideal light performance and look spectacular. Several PSers have purchased recently and we are all waiting to see these beauties set, lol.

+1 to check out opulence ovals

Ditto to the opulence ovals. Since the opulence oval is a brillant cut, when looking at it directly (not from the side), it will look whiter than a traditional oval cut (e.g. facing up a J oval might look white, whereas a J traditional oval will look tinted yellow).

The only thing I would mention is that in the other thread where a poster was contemplating buying it, the opulence ovals will face up smaller (in general, a same sized traditional oval will look larger than a same sized round) because it is cut much deeper in order to produce the optics of the opulence oval.

If your girl is looking for an oval in part because it looks like a nice size - it might be best to consult with her to see what matters more to her.

You might also want to consider what sort of ovals she likes (long and slender? chubby?) before taking the plunge since a chubby oval can look very different from a slender but longer oval.
