Hi,

I need help to see if the diamond is worth purchasing. Please click the link below for the diamond I am looking to purchase. It signature cut/F/VS1 1.3ct from bluenile.

http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamo...ty_LD03878112?tempcurr=USD&click_id=721012886

Originally, based on the GIA size parameters and the GCAL report, I thought the diamond is pretty good. However, when I receive the real picture, I am disappointed. See the attachment for the pictures. One is original and the other I circled my concern in read.

My concerns are:

1) When I pay a premium for the signature cut, I am hoping a pretty good arrow pattern. However, two arrows in the real picture does not seem to be right. I am not sure where the contrast I circled in red is coming from, which were not shown in the GCAL report at all.

2) There is another blemish part in the table, which is not shown in the GIA calarity report. My question is whether this is a polish issue or clarity issue. It is true it is difficult to see when you shrink the image size to actual diamond. However, if I plan to take a high resolution picture to show the ring. It will show up even in 3 to 4x scale.

Let me know your thought

Thanks,

For the same price (after Pricescope discount), you could have either of these considerably large stones.

These have the same color as the BN stone, and you can verify that they are eye-clean with the vendor (since these stones are in-house).

I prefer purchasing from a vendor that can provide me with all of the details (Idealscope, in-person inspection, multiple images, etc.), so I can be the most informed in my purchase.

What you show and have concern about the arrows is not a fair comparison. What you are looking at is NOT an arrows picture as it would be shown in an Hearts and arrows viewer. The diamond is not perfectly parallel to the camera lens for one thing, so the arrows, if they are there will not be shown in their entirety. You are trying to take information from this picture that it was not designed to give.

I really can not comment on another vendor's diamond, but I did want to let you know that this is not an arrows picture and that is why the arrows do not seem right.

Wink,

Thank you so much for the clarification.

How about the blemish part? Is that a cloud or something that is caused by camera ?

He's not allowed to comment on that, it's another vendor's diamond.

I would rather have the bigger, better diamond posted for the price.

With a VS1 graded by GIA, you should not be able to see it with this magnification. I'm saying that what you see is probably not a blemish.

I missed that part in the reply.

Thank you for reminding.

Thank you for the reply.

I took another look at the picture, it maybe some sort of optical thing. Looks like a hue mixed with blue and yellow lighting.

Will try to see if Bluenile is willing to be provide another angle of the diamond.

Thank you for the suggestion.

When it comes to diamond, I am bit paranoid. I want to give her the most beautiful ring I can afford. I want be able to show the ring in close real life picture (2 to 3 x) without noticeable issue.

I actually have another diamond priced similar on Bluenile with G/Vs2 at 1.46 ct as another candidate with similar price. The cutting probably is even better.

However, my fear is that when we take pictures for the ring, it will show flaws with close up at 2 to 3x. maybe we can get around by post processing.

This probably goes back to the point you bring up that the ability to see in person would be the best. However those vendors tend to have limited inventory. Given the trade off, I will go with Bluenile for now knowing I could have backup diamonds for exchange in case I want to return it.

The vendors posted, like Brian Gavin, have what you call "limited inventory" because what they have in house is usually pre-selected and custom cut to be the best of the best. They cut out all of the lesser quality cut diamonds. Blue Nile is a drop shipper, the don't normally have anything "in house" at all. Anything you find on Blue Nile just about and jeweler can get for you. That's the nature of drop shipping.

If you dont like the stone you get, you return it and get your money back. You dont really need to have "back-up stones."

In my opinion you are going above and beyond on it being a "clean" stone...even by PS standards and we can be pretty picky.
I'm having a hard time understanding why you would give up size for a picture that you want to take at 2x or 3x that you might
photoshop anyway. Do you have plans to carry the picture around with you? Just trying to understand why its so important.

Anyway, really none of my business and you certainly dont have to justify your wants/needs to me or anyone but I think you should
look at the long haul and consider what would be more important to you/her. A flawless picture of your stone or a larger size
that basically no one can see anything in anyway.
