Help with size of diamond

I am so glad to find this forum. I really need some help with buying a diamond and
A ring setting. My budget is 10000-12000$. I tend to like larger diamonds but I am restricted due to my budget
And want to buy within my means. I would really appreciate your expert advice I found former threads really useful. I have long fingers and really want a diamond over 1 carat but I do not what to compromise the quality. Ideally I would love three carats however I don't think I could find something in my budget. I need help on what are good specs to look for,

three carats isnt going to be in your budget. And 1 ct probably isnt either. What type of stone would you like? round? some other shape? are you happy to have a very simple setting now?

Loose diamonds on James Allen etc. but I really want to know what are good specs so I can look from there.

up at the top of this site there is a "knowledge" tab that would give you a lot of info on fancy cuts. BUT those are general guidelines, unlike rounds, you can go specifically by the numbers for a fancy cut, you have to use your eyes too. would you consider pre- loved diamonds?

I am coming across a lot of diamonds rings on eBay but since I still don't know
What I am doing do not what to be tricked by cut or depth etc

I don't know much about fancy shapes, I just wanted to say that your budget should be plenty for over a carat. Mine is a 1.35 H VS2 round ideal cut and came in well under $10K. Unless you're only ok with D IF diamonds (which are completely unnecessary IMHO), I'm not sure why you couldn't get something a little over a carat.

oh i am just terrible with princess cuts. If i was going with one though, Id probably go with an ACA, just because im bad at picking and an ACA is pretty much guaranteed to be beautiful!

take a look at some of there videos about their AVRs. They are special branded cuts with optimal light performance but to look like old vintage cuts. If i had your budget this would be hands down my choice.

I had a pear. It was so amazing on my hand, but the light performance just didnt do it for me at the end of the day. You spend the money for a diamond, you want to really get all the performance you can out of it you know?

can i just say the best decision is an informed decision and even then you can still get it wrong.

If i were you id start but researching the 4 C's. theres plenty to learn from pricescope but i found goodoldgold's website the best to learn from. once you know what clarity you'd be willing to accept and color range you want to buy within (sometimes when you look at stones in person you will find that either stones down to J color all look white to you or you are super sensitive to color and want DEFG) you'll be able to narrow your search to stones that you will truly be happy with.

the most important c in my mind is cut. especially with round stones. a poorly cut stone will be lifeless whereas a truly well cut stone will be a discoball.
