Hi all
I need a little help with the setting for my (hopefully) soon-to-be fiance''s e-ring.
I''ve chosen this diamond:
Round Brilliant
0.94
D
Si2 - eye clean
Excellent cut
HCA of 1.8
See here for GIA, Idealscope, and even photo''s and videos:

I''ve inspected the stone in person and it''s great.
Anyway - now the setting - the style of ring she likes is to have a centre stone, and then a few side stones.
What I''m a little confused by, is should I get princess cut side stones, or round?
Round don''t fit together as well, and can allow dirt etc to get in the gaps. But does it look weird to have a round centre with princess sides?
I would like 3 per side (6 is her favourite number).
And any advice on how large they should be? - I was thinking 7-10 points each? But if they are this big will the centre stone look smaller - would it be better to go with 4 pointers?
Also, should these be channel set? or some other way?
As you can tell, I''m really not sure what to do!
My guy has offered me the following:
6 x 0.09ct, F, VS, Excellent Cut Princess stones for $1,050 (Australian dollar)
or
6 x 0.06ct, F, VS, Excellent Cut Round stones for $660 (AU dollar)
The ring will be yellow gold, with a white gold setting. Similar to this:
http://www.jogiadiamonds.com.au/engagement_rings/vee-shaped-setting-with-a-solid-park-lane-band-ER25/
He is charging $920 (AU dollar) for the ring mount.
So total cost of setting with princess is $1,970, with round is $1,580
Either is ok budget wise, but to be honest I was hoping the setting would be closer to the $1,500 mark than to $2,000
Any opinions?
