Help with setting a loose stone

Hi!
I want to start by thanking everyone for all the help in my diamond search so far, the forum has been extremely helpful when it’s come to researching what to look for and how to find the best stone!!
I am narrowing down my search, and probably getting a loose diamond through USACertedDiamonds, but had a question about the best way to go about getting it mounted?
I’ve read that local jewelers don’t always love selling just a setting and mounting a stone, because they don’t see the same profits though take on a considerable risk of damaging the stone. Is this true in your experience? Any online retailers you can recommend that sell empty settings, or who will mount a stone that is shipped to them? Or is that too risky?
Any other advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Why not have Martin at USACerted Diamonds have it mounted for you? Does he not have access to a bench? Did you ask him?

I haven’t asked him specifically, but couldn’t find a setting listed on his site that was similar to the one my girlfriend has hinted at... or you mean, just buying a setting separately and sending it to him to mount?

His settings are limited, but I bet you could ask hm if he could access Stuller settings. Where are you located? I know a great jeweller in Barrie, ON who could do the setting for you happily.

Post a picture or a link to what your GF likes and we can see if Stuller has something similar. I'm betting that USC's bench has access to Stuller.

Right on, yeah I haven’t actually asked Martin about what other setting options there may be besides what’s listed on his site.
