Help with selecting Diamond (BlueNile)

Many jewelers (and many people here) will steer you toward platinum. Having had rings of both kinds I don't think there is much of an advantage to platinum versus palladium alloy wg. 18kt gold holds up perfectly well - 31 years and counting for one ring. Frankly I think that the choice of platinum is often about the cachet associated with it; it's more expensive, it must be better. But I never had a 18kt band warp on me like platinum and with the trend of thin rings, that's a consideration.

Having said that, our wedding bands were made to be not as thick as standard rings, so maybe that is what contributed to the ring flexing.

Unplated palladium white gold won't require rhodium plating and is a good option.
Stuller also makes this unplated X1 nickel white gold which also works, although some people may develop a nickel allergy due to high nickel content.
Pure Palladium is another option I looked at recently and probably would be my pick.
Platinum is also a good option but more expensive.

As for rings deforming, yes any of these can deform. Generally speaking in terms of hardness palladium > platinum > gold. But honestly, people walk around wearing sterling silver all of the time, which is softer than all of these, and in most cases it's totally fine.

Just to be clear, the reason I don't suggest rhodium plated white gold (which is most of the white gold out there) is I and a lot of other people really dislike the process of rhodium plating. It's high maintenance and horrible for the environment.

That's odd. Are you calling their main number? Just ask for Yekutiel and say PS sent you. Or even e-mail. They are pretty responsive.

As for the inclusion in the center, I think it'll be hard to see in real life given the size, but mind clean is part of what people pay for sometimes.

All,

Ritani sent the diamond pics - I see a small inclusion in the center - not sure if it the stone would be worth it.

As for the custom ring they said 3700 CAD for Platinum ring.

I have been trying to reach IDjewelers - but no luck...any other recommended jewelers?

The inclusion, at VS1 clarity will most likely not be visible. Can they get you a video or IS of the stone?

Is this the Ritani setting you're looking to customize?

If so, i still prefer the JA and Gabriel NY setting. Some people love how the side stones tuck up under the center stone like the Ritani one... but i much prefer the finger coverage that the others provide. Check out the actual pictures here of the Ritani one:

The JA and Gabriel settings to me are much prettier. That is just MY OPINION though!

As far as IDJewelry, that is REALLY strange that you can't get an answer. Try an email or live chat

Finally get in touch with Yekutiel from ID - he's been very helpful and provided the diamond I think will be best suitable.

Thanks everyone for all the help. Will close this topic :)
