So after telling me for weeks that she doesn''t really know what she likes or would want in a ring, my girlfriend spent almost two hours at a jewelry shop tonight only to come home and tell me she really loves radiant cut diamonds.

I''ve been focusing exclusively on round.

How does one judge a radiant cut? What should I be looking for?

Do you have any recommendations for where to find a decent selection of them?

Thanks.

I don''t know much about radiants at all. From the little I do know, fancy shapes are harder to judge by their numbers alone. Various image types and seeing it in person are the best way of evaluating the stone. That said, there are some criteria of cut that you can use to narrow down your search. Take a look at the AGA cut garding table for a start. Select Radiant from the drop down list at the top of that page.

As for a decent selection, I imagine any of the PS vendors will have something. Just try a number of vendors and see what you like.

Splinter is right, you can''t judge a radiant by the numbers. So detailed photographs and an ASET image are very helpful with this shape. See ASET info here.

As Splint says, check out some of the PS vendors for radiants, and try to stick to in house stones where the cut analysis has been done.
