Hi, I am looking for an oval and although I gave some specs of what I think I am or should be looking for, I am the equivalent of tone deaf in being able to look at a video to tell the brilliance and fire of a stone - and I definitely want a lively, beautiful stone full of fire. I should clarify - I can tell when a stone has fire in person, but even after reading a lot of threads I don’t have confidence in my ability to tell a stone is well faceted, if facets are turning on and off well, will have a bowtie, etc. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Budget: $8k max (just the stone)
> 1.15 carat (~ > 8 mm x > 6 mm)
H or better color
VVS2 or better with no black crystals
Excellent/ideal cut
Excellent or very good symmetry and polish
L/W 1.35-1.5
Table 53-63
Depth 58-62
As little of a bowtie effect as possible

Here are a couple I found using the diamond search tool. Any clear winners or ones you would avoid? Or any other suggestions? Thank you!

(this one doesn’t meet all my measurements, but I thought it looked pretty so I included it)

Thank you!

You might want to look on the Distinctive Gem (August Vintage) website. The Elyque ovals are cut for maximum brilliance and will not have a bowtie. They also offer settings and will set your diamond for you or custom design a setting.

I would probably drop your clarity requirements to a VS1 or eye clean SI1. VVS2 is a bit of overkill.

I found a video of the 1.24 here, too: https://www.adiamor.com/Diamonds/1.24-ct-G-IF-Excellent-Cut-Oval-Diamond/D44842595

Thank you, I looked at DGs and reached out about an Elyque =)2

@tyty333. Is this one good? I tried to pick up the pattern of having the facets towards the poles be active. Not sure if I succeeded, though!
