Hi! I hope this is the right place to post. I am looking at buying a vivid fancy orange yellow round, IGI cert #LG10031811. It's 1.44 ct and VVS2. I'm not sure it I would be getting a good deal or not, and was sent here by a wonderful lady - looks like you all know your stuff! Any help, please?

If you are looking for price comps there aren’t a lot of stores selling fancy vivid yellows these days. Is this pre-owned? You can check:

Also, a few years ago when fancy yellows were more common, they cost about the same if not a little bit discounted compared to near white diamonds with the same specs. I think this is because the white diamonds took several years longer to come into the market as there was some technical challenge in growing them. Since the technology has gotten better the white diamonds have gone down in price but yellow diamonds are hard to find, probably because more people are interested is white diamonds, so it’s tough to place a value on them.

Thank you SO much!
It is not pre-owned. It is a CVD and I guess I was concerned about treatment processes and such. I wanted to get a good deal, as well as make sure the color wouldn't disappear. She is having a 'sale' and the diamond is $1850. I thought it was a good deal, but I'm such a novice I don't know. It's such a vivid color!

It could have been treated post growth but any treatment should be permanent. Maybe someone with more technical expertise would know but I’ve not babied mine and it looks the same. I don’t know what would be considered a fair price for that stone today but it is definitely really cheap compared to the prices when I was shopping for a fancy yellow two years ago. I do love lab yellow diamonds. I entertained the idea of getting one from Tiffany’s but they didn’t seem yellow enough! They are not vivid yellow (I think fancy intense), use yellow gold cups to bring out the color, and of course cost a small fortune. The one you’re looking at won’t need a cup and the color will always pop.

Does it have a cert? I worry it might be a bit dark.
