Help with James Allen setting

In my other thread I said that my BF purchased a diamon & setting from JA. :appl:
The diamond is a pear and the setting is their 2mm tiffany repro 6 prong knife edge. They left him a voice mail saying that it is actually a 5 prong including the v-tip. He has since called and said that we want a 5 prong PLUS the v-tip. He checked the order and there is a note saying to set it in a 5 prong INCLUDING the v-tip. :confused:

He doesn't want to make a fuss now because we're on such a tight deadline, but I really prefer the look of the 5 prong PLUS v-tip. :cry:
When I saw their ebay pears, they have 6 prongs. Do you think they really misunderstood my BF's email and phone call? Does anyone know how they usually set their pears. This is the look I'm shooting for -

I don't know how they set their pears but I looked at photos of 4 prongs + v tip and it doesn't look too bad. Essentially, the prong across from the v-tip is not there and the other prongs are spaced a bit differently. I actually saw more 4+V online than 5+v. With that said, if this is not what you want, just say something before its too late!!
 
I agree, if this isn't what you want then you should say something now. No point in receiving anything other than what you want. I'm not sure where you are in production but I would give them a call and email the pic you posted so that there is no more misunderstandings. I had JA rebuild a head for me last year and it was quite quick so likely this wont hold the ring up much. When is your deadline?
 
We are leaving for vacation Friday. As of right now, the ring is supposed to ship overnight on Wednesday (arriving Thursday). So, at this point, we'll just wait and see what happens. My bf made the request to change it ONLY if it didn't change the shipping date.
 
They have an excellent return policy so assuming that this isn't a custom piece, and you aren't happy you can return it and have them change the head for you after your vacation. It's going to be a lovely ring either way, congrats!! :appl:
 
Great! There should be no issue then in returning the setting and having the new head made (assuming of course its possible) when you return from vacation. Have you made arrangements to have the ring insured upon its arrival? This would be very important to me especially since you will be travelling. I hate for you to be out the cost of repairs should you damage either the stone or the setting....or worse the cost of the entire ring should it be lost or stolen.
 
Well, if it arrives on Thursday, I will try to add it to my JM policy. I don't think I can add it ahead of time.
