Hello to everyone, first of all congratulations to all of you, i was reading this forum for a month and it was so helpful for me.
I travel a lot because of my work and i´m going to buy the e-ring to my girlfriend during my next business travel. At the begining was thinking to buy from a Tiffany´s store, but after read all of this information i am seriously decided to buy from James Allen online store.
I´m from outside of USA so, sorry if sometimes my english is difficult to understand.

I really appreciate if someone give me his/her opinion about this three diamonds, all the information is at the link (Ideal Scope also). am not a diamond expert (very far away... ;) ) and i don´t know how to interpret the Ideal Scope photos, so, any help is welcome.

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

Hello, Based on the ideal scopes and specs I would go with #3. #1 and 2 appear to have some slight leakage. The HCA score on #3 is 1.4 which is good too and it is colorless. Did JA have a recommendation between the 3?

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

Thanks!
No, they didn´t answer my e-mail yet when they answer me i´ll put here.

But the second one has 0.8 HCA score, am i right? this doesn´t mean better than 3rd one? (sorry if this is a stupid question! )

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

ideally you would want an HCA score at or below 2. I don't think you will be able to tell the difference between a 0.8 HCA and 1.4

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

The HCA is a weed-out tool. Ideally you want a score under 2.0, but not always. (AGS Ideal cut stones with a 0 score in light performance have already been shown to be top performers, so we don't normally even do HCA's on AGS 0's - all 3 of these are already graded as AGS 0 which is the best there can be). Anything 2.0 or under is worth investigation; but the lower the score does not mean it is a better stone (a 0.5 is not "better" than a 1.9 for example).

That said I like the IS on #3 the best. No obvious leakage under the table as in #1 on the right side, and the arrows are nice and crisply black unlike #2, and I (personally) like fatter arrows.

A lot depends on what the gemologist has to say as well - let them tell you which one actually looks the nicest in real life. They are all 3 beautiful stones! You can ask for ASET images of all 3 (James Allen will do up to 3 for you), and ask them to look at all 3 stones together.

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

is there a reason you want to stay so high in color and clarity?
if you would be open to a stone thats lower in clarity, but still eye clean, you could reach the .4 mark
http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.41-carat-f-color-si2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-40751

or lower in color would work too
http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.41-carat-j-color-vvs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-163664

but if size isnt a concern, id pick number 3

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

Thank you both of you for the response!
I asked James Allen´s opinion (Gemologist) when i get response from them, i´ll let you know.

Thank you! :)

Niel! thanks for the response!

Sure, i am open-mind person! I like the first one. I´m going to look stones with this features and post here couple of them.

Thanks again, you gave me a "new vision". I prefer a quality instead size but probably you are right... maybe we can´t appreciate the difference between "excellent" and "very good" quality diamonds. After "my research" i will put here pictures and features.

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

well, in terms of clarity. It can still be excellent and have lower clarity. I think of it as, if you look at 2 F colored stones, both you cant see the inclusions, but one looks larger, which would you pick. I mean, you would have to as them if its eye clean, but if it is, whats the difference between an eye clean VVS1 and an SI2, other than whats on the certificate?

They said this info: "You'll be glad to hear that diamond 164357 has excellent fire, brilliance, and scintillation, which balances nicely. As you would expect, it is eye clean, icy white, and faces the smallest. Diamond 40751 is equally bright, eye clean, and icy white."

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

Well I quite like that one. And I do think ever .1 ct counts at this size.

Re: Help with Ideal Scope and features of these three diamon

if they say its eye clean yes i would go for the .4 ct.

that solitaire will look lovely, I actualy just got that setting myself. Even though its a "budget" one, it still look very nice! I got the 6 prong one, i really liked the extra 2 prongs
