Help with HW Micropavé Ring, Oval "Look-A-Like"

It's probably 2mm or just below, maybe 1.8mm. Most PSers wouldn't recommend going narrower than 2mm, though, for durability (or as durable as you can get with pave!). Do you already have a vendor in mind to make the ring? If not, Victor Canera, Steven Kirsch, and Engagement Rings Direct all have lovely versions of the HW micropave.

THat is a very popular style and we have several vendors who are VERY skilled at producing it. What is your budget for the setting (they run about 4,500) and what is your budget for the diamond.

Its beautiful, lucky girl! I would make the same suggestion as Gypsy and rubybeth that you consider having a vendor make the ring for you. Pave is tricky and if I wanted this ring there are only a few people that I would trust to make it for me.

Yes, I do have a vendor in mind. My girlfriend loved the width of the HW ring and I wanted to give my vendor that number.

Your vendor should be able to determine appropriate proportions based on the photo and the size center stone that you choose. Has your vendor created a setting like this before? Have you been able to view his work? Just a couple of things to consider because pave isn't an easy job for most benches, it requires a meticulous and experienced bench to do it properly.

Yes he has. My vendor recommended 2mm, but my girlfriend felt that it was wider than what she saw at HW.

For what it's worth, what we saw at HW was a 2 carat stone and I am on the market for ~2 carats as well.

I would contact good old gold and have them look for a stone for you. They can bring in several stones
and do a video under different lighting conditions.

Here are a few threads that you might find useful. These settings are all inspired by or very similar to the HW ring.

As many people on this thread have already mentioned, there are several tried and true PS vendors who can make an exquisite micropave ring, some of which will be even more beautiful than HW's. Do you have 100% faith that your vendor is up to their level? If you have even the slightest doubt, then I would urge you to contact one (or more) of the PS vendors for more information or a quote.

On the 2 carat, if it's handforged platinum I would go with 1.8mm. If it's a CAD and CAST I would not go thinner than 2mm.
