This is my first topic in BWW so I hope that you lovely ladies will be able to help me

I want to get my FI a nice wedding present, and was thinking about a higher-end watch (under 1K) since he LOVES watches and all of his current ones are Fossil (around $100).

Anyway I was thinking of Tag Heuer (specifically something from the Formula 1 Chronograph line since FI needs a larger faced watch... ex: http://www.watchesonnet.com/Mens-Formula-1-Chronograph.html).

So my questions are:

1) Anyone have experience with Tags and do you (or someone else you know) like them?
2) Suggestions on places to purchase a Tag from (probably leaning towards online since the prices seem to be better)
3) Any other brands you would suggest in the same price range ($500 - 1,000)
4) Any other advice that maybe helpful to me

Thank you in advance!!!!

My hubby loves his Cyma. It was about $600. Not available all over the place, but they hold up extremely well. My dad is still wearing his 20 years after he bought it and it doesn''t have a scratch on it.

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. My FI currently wears a Kenneth Cole watch, and prior to that, went through 2 Fossil watches. I don't think he's ever owned a "nicer" watch, and I had toyed with the idea of buying him a really expensive watch (like a Rolex). However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that he's not a label-conscious person, and would probably blanch at the thought of wearing something over $1000.

So, I looked around and purchased him this Swiss Army watch from my local Nordstrom: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2958723?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=keywordsearch&keyword=swiss+army+in+All+Categories&origin=searchresults. My FI is 6'5" so I purchased this version at that price, but they have a smaller version (face-wise) that is around $450.

My first nice watch was a Swiss Army watch that I wore from senior year of HS up to a few years ago (about 7 years total). It's still in working condition, but I now interchange between my Michele and Hermes watches. In that time, I only had to change the battery once, and felt that it was a really sturdy watch since I tend to be klutzy. Even with banging around, the watch still looks really great -- no scratches on the crystal face whatsoever.

If you have a local Nordstrom, I would recommend looking around because they have several nice watches within the price range that you are thinking about. I think Macy's also has a nicer watch section apart from where their Fossils, Kenneth Coles, etc. are. Also, Tourneau is great place to look for watches. I believe they carry Tag watches. I don't know anyone personally with a Tag watch, but they are supposed to be really nice and hold up well.

Good luck with your search!

Thank you ladies!!
Sumbride --- I will have to look for some Cyma vendors so I can see what the watches are like. I have never seen one before, thanks for the suggestion

SuLi -- I like the Swiss Army styles and they appear well made, glad to hear yours held up well. Thanks for the Nordstrom/Macys suggestion, I went to the link you posted and they have a bunch of different brands in my price range.
