Hi. I am about to purchase my first diamond and was wondering if I may get some ideas and inputs for this specific stone that i am considering.

Below is the GIA report.

0.9 carat
measurements 6.25 - 6.29 x 3.80 mm
G grade
VS2 carity
VG cut
60.6% depth
56% table
34.5 degree crown
40.6 degree pavilion
EX polish and symmetry
medium faceted
priced at $4,160

however, the cut grade affected by brillianteering kind of hold me back a bit

thanks in advance for the help and input.

i read a lot in the forum already but is still confused with the term brillianteering...

as far as idealscope image, how to i get one if the retailer does not support it? and is the scope itself cost 80+?? thanks.

Here is something else too that provides a picture of a painted(brillianteering) diamond next to a regular(classic girdle) diamond:

Is this on online vendor bc if so they should be able to give you an Idealscope image unless its bluenile...
I don't know if you would be interested but here is a round in your price range without brillianteering just a hair smaller than the one you posted: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/5957/

Hi Maves

Brillianteering isn't always a bad thing, GIA will always downgrade a diamond for what they think is excessive brillianteering but in some cases it can enhance desirable visual properties in a diamond. With that said I would want an Idealscope image for any diamond which was brillianteered that I was thinking of buying, can you get one from the vendor? They might be able to supply one on request.

You can buy an IS for $25 if the vendor or store doesn't supply them, they aren't that expensive

But if the diamond is online ask the seller, they might be able to get you an image.

Thank you all so much for the information. I ended up purchasing this diamond for $4060 but I still can''t tell if its good/bad diamond with my naked eye. I don''t see any scratch on the top and that''s about all I can tell since I don''t have another diamond to compare it to.

Do we usually use table light or brightest light possible when we are checking out diamond quality? Or does good diamond just shine better in very minimum light source?

I ordered the ideal scope kit last saturday but looking at the shipping guideline its gonna take days to get to me. Has anyone have experience with their shipping? Also most importantly am I using the ideal scope to look for light leakage to determine if my brillianteering is positive or negative??
