Hi all, I need help with eternity band!!
My hubby got this one for me for our 7 year anniversary! It’s 5C TW. My engagement center stone is 2.56
Ok I do love it, BUT I don’t like the sides on it especially because they don’t match my engagement (see photos)
Engagement is u prong and this one is basket. Although it is comfy, the basket setting bothers me :( (I have a 4 yr old and an infant and wanted to wear daily it mainly by itself so not to scratch kids).
I was googling u prong setting and came across this beauty!!!
It’s slightly over 6c, each stone is 0.4 and the microwave will add some height. Jeweler said ~4.5mm in height.
My Qs are- is this going to be comfortable to wear?
Will the side diamonds catch all the little threads in the world/ chip/ look bad after a few yrs?
I love wearing my band every day (will not wear to the gym/while cleaning/ doing 41084488-6391-473F-94F6-6DEE2C7DCAF5.jpeg 2729CB8B-B856-4CCC-89E6-CC0ABD135E7E.jpeg EDDE251F-7CC8-4DF7-BA18-F0B5E41DFE31.jpeg 881E4232-0299-4499-87C1-454C33D0399D.jpeg D0EA6337-0779-4315-8EAE-B24B76BABCDF.png dishes)

No, IMO, it will not be an everyday ring. Yes, the diamonds may chip. The melee may even fall out if you wear it everyday.

I own an eternity with .35 carat stones (5+ carat tcw). I stubbornly wore it as an everyday ring for several years. It went to the spa last year and my jeweler noted several chipped girdles. It has now been demoted to my date night ring. Granted, I live a very active lifestyle (4 kids and I coach year round), but I never wore it to the gym or very much around the house.

If I were you, I would opt for a 5 stone. But, do what’s best for you and your lifestyle. Be sure to come back and share photos of what you decide!

Thank you so much for your input! Is the basket setting more secure that a U prong ? What about if I do a U-prong without micro pave? I had my engagement ring and a very small eternity for 8 yrs and wear it every day & not a single diamond got loose / chipped. Is the issue with the diamonds that are in the bottom?
I’m a dentist btw so mostly in gloves. And I would take off at home, only wear when going out of the house. Ah I’m so torn!

I’ve had my uprong for years, it’s only .10 stones but it’s super comfy and I wear it all the time and have not done any damage. I would not do the pave sides, they will break your gloves. I’m a dental hygienist :D

Ok ladies! I finally got the final product! After MANY months of research buying loose diamonds individually and having James Allen make a custom band. I went with their “trellis” style. 0.4 c each stone. Love it but not planning to wear with engagement ring . Will wear alone or on right hand when wearing engagement ring :)
