I just found this site because I got engaged the other day.

I am very happy and the ring style is perfect for me, and I love it. However, it is about a size or 2 too big! The ring slips off my finger if I make jerky hand movements. Yesterday, I stopped by a couple of jewellers to ask about resizing. One told me it could not be done, and another told me it would be very expensive, and recommended a ring guard. I was devastated. I do not like the way a ring guard looks though, and would love to just have it resized. Returning the ring is not an option, as it was purchased in the US and my fiancee and I are not in the country, won''t be for a long time. Getting it from there was not too easy, logistically, and I certainly wouldn''t trust postal systems to send it back.

The ring is small diamonds set in what might be pave, (I don''t really know, because I have never owned a ring, or even any diamonds before in my life! Here are some Photos of the ring. What can I do? I''ve got some little rubber things on under the ring holding it in place, but I can''t do that forever!

My girl and I just did a resize, very easy. A tech can put a leaf spring in and it will fit fine. If it''s too big, that may not be practical, and it would need to be cut with a filler on the underside to re-join it ... which may show if somone is reading your palm. you need to take it to someone who knows what they''re talking about, it sounds like you''re getting uncertain advice.

The issue may not be resizing, but resizing as much as you need. Pave settings are a bit delicate, so even if you have enough room at the bottom to resize, the issue might be that it could hurt the integrity of the beads holding the tiny diamonds in because 2 sizes might change the shape of the ring significantly.

You could always do a horseshoe sizer or maybe add a bit of metal to the bottom inside to size it a bit? I would bring it to the most experienced jeweler you can find. There will be a solution although it might not be perfect.

I think sizing bands might work but resizing this ring will probably be difficult. It''s very pretty.

It can be sized, but you have just not yet found the right individual to do the work. Don''t be upset, but be more patient. Get the exact size of your finger and of the ring so you have a good handle on how much the ring needs to be reduced. You can get this done once you are settled.

Thank you for all the replies! I''m glad to hear that it is possible to have this done. Now I just need to do a lot more research.
