Help With Engagement Ring Design: OEC & french cuts

I've finally selected a ring design. I'd love to set my OEC in a setting inspired by these photos. Approximately a 3 carat OEC with french cuts along the band. David Klass will be making my engagement ring replacement (my original was lost.)

I have some concerns that the ring may be too chunky for my comfort when my fingers are pressed together. Can the design safely be made slightly less chunky?

I also don't like that around the side there is so much metal that can be seen from the sides. It looks somewhat industrial to me. Is there a way to soften this up? Does anyone have any ideas about how the design can be embelished here? Screenshot_20240327_072235_Instagram.jpgDoes the ring have to structurally have so much metal to support it? I hope my questions make sense.

This ring seems thinner like there is less metal. Not sure if it's the angle. It also has additional diamonds that can be seen from the side. I like the idea of some embellishment, just not sure this is exactly the route I want to go.Screenshot_20240519_202352_Chrome.jpg

These are very delicate settings. Macro photos are misleading.

I'm sure DK could put in a hidden halo for you. Has he started doing a CAD?

Rounding the donut will help (the first ring looks to have a more angled donut). Adding some engraving to the sides will soften them.

You think it just looks hefty, but is not so in real life? There's definitely nowhere I can try something like this on. That I'm aware of.

Not yet he's still sourcing the OEC. I wanted to get ahead of the design as this project has been a long time coming.

You're right the last picture has a round donut. To my eye the ring in the last photo looks more delicate. Like it has less visible metal.

There is a certain amount of metal needed for supporting the diamonds. You can use smaller diamonds but then you have smaller diamonds lol. This looks like maybe 3mm tapering to 2.3 between the fingers which is delicate. You can go more delicate but not with this construction. The rails of metal are a fraction of a millimeter. But overall it’s not the super super dainty look you see sometimes with rings that are 2mm shanks. I guess you have to choose the look you want.

Tiffany might have styles like this you could see in person. Or is there a vintage jewelry store near you?

There is definitely a Tiffany's around here and a vintage jewelry store as well. Good idea.

I've changed my mind. ‍♀️ This whole process is so much about discovery. This is what I'm leaning towards now. I of course still choose the lovely OEC that is soon to be coming my way. But here are some inspiration pictures of what I'm leaning towards. I am pretty sure that one of the photos is a ring owned by one of our Pricescopers. I like the rounded edges of the vintage piece. I want to make sure I don't scratch my kids. Screenshot_20240618_162726_Chrome.jpgwith french cut sides.
