Really? How interesting. It holds true for me, everyone else here at work and I've started asking our clients and it seems to hold true for the most part!
I find it true for men more than women. I asked others about it as well when I first heard that.

Like I said for me my shoe size is about a 7-7.5 my ring size is about a 4.25. My largest finger isn't even a 7 ring size.

It holds true for my husband though.

Is the shank going to have diamonds on it? If so, I wouldn't consider having it made without knowing the correct size. The best thing to do if you can't get the size is to set the diamond in a plain solitaire for the surprise proposal and then let her be involved in the custom design afterwards. I'd also warn you that there have been problems reported here with rings that thin. I wouldn't go under 1.8-2.0mm especially if you are having pave on the shank.

huge ditto!!!

My boyfriend is 6'7" with size 14 shoe...and a size 10 ring.

Hmm. The shoe size definitely doesn't hold true for me--I wear a 5.5 shoe and my left ring finger is a size 2.5.

My left middle finger is probably about a 4.5, so it's a full two sizes bigger than my e-ring and wedding band, which are both size 2.5.

I'll tell you what my nephew did. He wrapped a bandaid around her finger (I think it was a Sponge Bob bandaid) when they were goofing around and then slid it off as if a joke. Got the ring size.

I just realized that my right middle finger must have been broken at some point 0 that knuckle is huge!

On my left hand, I'd estimate that the ring finger is 1/2 to 1 size smaller than the middle finger. I'd go with the 4.25 - and I'd make sure I bring something along that can be used to adjust the ring size if it happens to be a bit too large. (Maybe WF would have some suggestions for you here?)
