I have been researching replacing diamond stud earrings and after various research in this forum and using the HCA tools. I am still a little confused as to what makes the better stone. I have 3 examples of stones from the James Allen site that meet my critera but i'm not sure what to look for in the pictures so I thought I would ask the experts for help

Thoughts on what the most suitable for earrings would be?

I agree. I have always been puzzled by what they called "a match".
However, I have preset JA dangles and they are quite well-matched.

Perhaps you could look in pre-loved here and on various internet sites.
That is where I found my Tiffany studs and WF studs. You could put out feelers here ... perhaps someone is thinking of selling.

I just bought new studs and I went through Yekutiel at ID Jewelry. He picked them for me and they are absolutely gorgeous. They are 1.2 ct. G/SI2 and they are completely eye clean to my eye. I was worried about the eye-clean part, but they exceeded my expectations. He met my budget exactly.

Try McGivern Diamonds. He's on line. I spent weeks trying to find matching pear shaped diamonds for stud earrings. He was able to find a vendor who cut the stones to match and they are GIA certified. Great customer service and fair pricing. Good luck

ID Jewelry seems to work very well at getting a lot of bang for your budget. I think you should give them a call and see what they
can come up with.

I found this pair at JA. Not the cleanest and D/F... plus not sure in your $2k budget with setting.
