Help with Diamond (Choice between the two)

Hello -

I am picking between the two below. The two certs are attached. I also attached two pictures, both with the 2.69 H VS1 on the left and 2.34 G VS1 on the right. The first is in our normal photo setup with fluorescent light and the second is in a normal room in front of a south facing window on an overcast day (only lit by indirect sun). The camera settings and everything else are the same, with the lighting and environment as the only difference.

I appreciate any advice on this.

Do you have other pictures by chance? It's a bit difficult to see the details of the diamonds. How does the cut, color, and clarity compare?

The larger stone has a better polish, however it looks like there may be a bow-tie effect?

Some nice size stones there!

I'm glad you have them in hand to assess them with your own eyes - that is sometimes the best test we can do.


As mentioned, though, additional pictures would be useful.

May I ask if you are able to replicate the second picture but with a bright red (or other strong colour) background behind it? Perhaps a bit of coloured card or a plain-colour christmas napkin? The idea being to check how much red you can see through the stone, therefore how much leakage they have. With a white background, it is hard/impossible to tell what is reflected light and what is leakage

Do the stones have a dark 'bow-tie' across the middle facets when face-on to you?

An ASETscope would be most useful in working out what is leakage and how they might perform, but I appreciate it would be an additional cost and would likely take time to arrive, which may put you beyond any window for Returns.

The faceting of each looks similar but the lighting environment being used does not appear conducive to showing any contrast/obstruction - it's therefore hard to tell whether bow-tie will be an issue (IMHO).

It's great that you'll be able to assess it in person - if you don't have an ASETscope then the aforementioned trick of putting coloured card or similar behind the stone will help show any leakage as the stone moves

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when it is in-hand!
