Hello all

I am extremely fraught trying to pick between 2 pear diamonds that I have seen. Both diamonds are GIA certified and look lovely. It is such a big price that I want to make sure I pick the right one.

Option 1 is slightly better quality but not as big as Option 2, but for the extra size of Option 2 is it worth a slightly less quality? Would the quality difference be noticeable to the naked eye?

Option 1
Pear Brilliant
10.91 x 7.24 x 4.54mm
1.50:1 (L/W ratio)
2.11ct
D color
VS1
Polish - excellent
Symmetry - Very Good
Fluro -None
Table 59%
Depth 62.7%
Girdle - Slightly Thick to Very Thick
Culet - None

Option 2
Pear Brilliant
11.55 x 7.97 x 4.78mm
1.45:1 (L/W ratio)
2.71ct
D color
VS2
Polish - Very Good
Symmetry - Good
Fluro - None
Table 53%
Depth 59.9%
Girdle - Slightly Thick to Extremely Thick
Culet - None

Please help, I could do with some guidance!

Thanks in advance

Have you seen both stones in person? If you haven't it would be best to either do so or have someone inspect the stones. I wouldn't base a pear purchase on numbers alone.

The second stone will be noticeably bigger-- it's also shallower than most stones. This may or may not play a role in it's bowtie. I have a very shallow pear shape with zero bowtie. Where are these stones from? Can you get an ASET?

How are you defining "quality"? With fancy shapes like pears you really need some ASET / idealscope images to evaluate light performance. That said, you have seen them in person. Does one have a larger bowtie? Have you looked at them in various lighting conditions (not just under jewelers lights)?

I have seen both and there is no noticeable bow-tie in either.

I have only looked at them in the shops but since each one is in a different jeweler I cannot compare them side by side.

I am slightly worried that the larger one is a bit too shallow and might not be as reflective of light.
