Hi there! My husband and I are looking to replace the diamond in my engagement ring. We unfortunately weren't very well versed in diamonds when choosing the original diamond, and it's lacking the brilliance and fire that we'd like.
I currently have a cushion, and while I love the shape of it, I'm not a big fan of the "crushed ice" look that my stone has. We're now looking at either a round or oval stone. The oval appeals to me because it's a little different, but it's also hard to go wrong with a round brilliant.
Our budget is $9k, and ideally it would be between 1.25 and 1.5 carats. We've started looking around at all the typical sites mentioned on here, but are a little at a loss about what specifically we should be looking for to make sure we choose a really good diamond rather than just an okay diamond. Cut is most important for us this time around, and we're very open to suggestions about how to get the most bang for our buck with a beautiful stone.
Any suggestions to get us pointed in the right direction (links to specific stones especially) would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!
