So the floralytes that i ordered came in and i put together to different centerpeices, 1 with a teal colored light and the other with a white one.......one has orchids(i didnt have time to try and submerge them..how do you think they look sitting on top?) in it and the other was SUPPOSED to have tulips in it but we never got any so we still have to try it with tulips...

So my two problems/concerns:

if we do end up using the orchids we wanted to submerge the orchids inside the vase so there are 3 orchids spaced out...we didnt but does anyone have any help on achieving that? weights, fishing line, anything?
also looking for some cool ideas to use the tulips in the vase........or maybe incorporating them both somehow? help/ideas GREATLY appreciated!

secondly....i LOVE LOVE LOVE the teal colored light.......however......it turns a greenish color when the lights get dimmed/turned off. When the lights are on it is a gorgeous hint of tiffany blue. i guess the lights wont be all the way off but still i wont know unless i take it to our venue. <--- stupid idea? lol
maybe i need to put more gems in the base? I was really thinking maybe taller vases so that the color spreads out more evenly (i do want taller vases already..they NEED to be)....i have even resorted to thinking about using tiffany blue colored water! I want that color in there and love the light! any solutions?

Any ideas/input would be so very much appreciated!!
GIVE ME YOUR GREAT IDEAS AND VISIONS!!!

Here''s the pics.........................

a light pic.........

a darker pic...............see how the blue is so much softer? Anyway to make the white softer?................taller vase maybe?

I kind of like the mass quantity of flowers inside the vase above instead of 3 submerged in a row(below.... without being in a row though like i was trying to do) ........opinions??? tulips included/instead?

i am coming to realize it should be fine.....because the lights will not be this dark in the reception hall.......if there is no solution i could probably just take both vases to the hall and set them on the table and see if it still looks green etc....i guess thats the only way to see if it looks good as a whole in the place it will be!

what we have in the bottom of the vases are fake acrylic ice (clear).......maybe we could just use turquoise colored ice with a white light? i just found a 300 pc set of ice for 14.99.........that would still add blue to it. and we could also throw in some of the clear ice too! whadda think?

Also i am having a really hard time finding black colored ice...we are going to use a few pieces in each vase to tie together the black accents we have.. (we are also using it under the table numbers that the guests take...going for a kind of diamonds in the rough look...like glamour new york city clubish....

Also hoping to get some more decor styled things into the mix........does anyone also have any ideas about decor around the room...being like hanging lights sitting lights? anything? Just need to decorate more around the reception hall and make it feel glamorous and edgy. I was thinking lantern lights maybe? Help wanted and needed! Sometimes i just come to a dead end and need some good thinking from others..soooo let your creativity come alive!!!! I know i have so many questions throughout these posts so please try to help me anyway you can!

another idea I had for the guest card table was to add in some sort of light with maybe floralytes under a candle holder (maybe black or blue) scattered on the table as well......i also have toyed with the idea of having a large basin or two as the main part of the table with a peice of glass over it....and have it filled with water/loose flowers and FISH...cubes of course for the bottom to go with the theme i had thought of having a fish in each centerpiece as well...and have the place cards sit ontop of the glass with the cubes and stuff i said earlier...........does anyone have any suggestions or ideas about this?

maybe if i do do this i could put a piece of glass under the centerpieces to echo what i did for the guest card table.........any other thoughts?

To make it look slightly more blue, perhaps you could put a drop of blue food coloring in each vase, so that it''s just a slight hint and doesn''t look as green when the lights are down.

Honestly, I hate seeing fish in centerpieces. I always feel so sorry for them.

BTW, I love your signature line. It made me giggle.

I agree with Freke, try adding some blue color in the water. Or try experimenting with different color glass cubes/marbles/pebbles on the bottom.

Re: the black cubes, I''m not sure if the light will shine through the black. Can you maybe use black somewhere else? Maybe attach black cardstock backed table numbers to your ribbons or your monogram or something?

Also for the orchids being lined up in the vase, I''ve seen it with the orchids on a stem. If you cannot get yours on a stem try fishing line or and tie them down at intervals. Does that make sense?

Good luck!

PS, I also like the teal floralytes :)

Frekechild: thanks.......honestly it keeps changing! We cant for sure set a date until jan. cuz of FI's job. so it might be november of next year or may of 2010.we wont know!

lliang_chi: I have looked for different blue cubes/stones on the bottom but no tiffany blueish color could be found.. I did however find some of the cubes a while ago that are like the clear in there now. those should work......as for the black ones in the vases..i thought it might make the teal light not as strong...who knows though. We are having A LOT of black accents (all paper items are DYI's....invites,STDs,programs has some type of black accent in it) so it doesnt have to be inside of the vase.

I was also unsuccessful with the fishing line thing.....stemmed are just so much more $ too........how do you feel about tulips? how could i use them with the orchids...or by themself?

I do love the teal floralyte but i just need to find a way for it to not look green. lol.....maybe u could use them somewhere else in the ceremony/ reception.....in water or out. hmmmmmmmmmm....the brain juice is flowing now!

I do have to say.........sooooooooooooo many details and stuff that needs coordinated together! Everytime I get something planned and think i have it all done....something else comes up that needs decorated/detailed! FI gets so mad too. He is always like, "you are over the top! just make it simpler!" And i say, "its NOT over the top, im coordinating everything together..its a wedding its supposed to be lcoordinated...if you say its over the top one more time...." this always comes up! lol
