Help with AVR/OEC

Following on from another thread, I am thinking I would prefer an ABR/OEC to a MRB. I have found these two on goodoldgold and they are on hold for me while I get some opinions. I have been told the I1 inclusion is likely prongable. I was not keen on very warm colours for a MRB but I think the M in the AVR would be OK and I much prefer the faceting in the middle of the stone (not sure what that's called but it is more flowery than the G. So while I prefer the colour of the G (I think) I prefer the facets of the M. They can send me a video of the M in natural light on Monday. Whatever I get, it'll be going in a simple white gold solitaires with rose gold and yellow gold stacking bands.

I also was sent these OEC links by mydiamondzone on eBay but I really can't tell anything from these pictures. Thoughts from experts in these style of cuts would be appreciated.

That G has just a little too much in it for me (although I couldn't see any of it in the video). I love the M. For me, it would either
be the M (which I* would probably put in rose gold) or it would be one of the mydiamondzone stones. The M will have ideal light
return but really hard to determine what the light return on the others could be. You could ask which one performs the best
(sparkliest, brightest, whitest...etc).

I don't think that I would be eye clean, the center seems to have a big black inclusion, no?

I did say I like flowery facets and pastels to be thrown (not a very good descriptor so I've gone back and specifically asked about light return) but at that time what she said was first and last are the most euro-y facet wise.

You'd have to send for the G to see if it is totally eyeclean to you. It is possible that it is, but I am not one who is comfortable with I1 clarity. I think M color is too low in a small stone. It is going to look tinted for sure. I would want a small stone to be bright. Any way to raise the budget a little to get this?

If not, I'd go down in size to get a better color.

I'm in Australia and I can't send for the stone and stay within budget unfortunately. Two more actual OEC options...any thoughts on these?

No to the E color stone. It is too out of round. Look at the lower right quarter edge. It is not round there.

The other one is a possibility of they'd do more pictures and a video. I would not consider it a great one, though. It has a partial very thin girdle which is not good unless you are setting the stone in a bezel or halo where the girdle will be protected.

Ok thanks. Were the 4 in my original post no good either?

Okay, I will comment on the first 4.

1) .88 K VS1...extremely thin girdle so bezel or halo setting needed. Not loving it overall.

2) .84 I VS2...really think this one looks nice! GIA I color is great. Extremely thin girdle, though. Needs to be set in bezel or halo to protect girdle from chipping.

3) .80 G....no

4) .70 G VS1 (EGL)...lovely cut like #2 and probably close to the same actual color and clarity, more round than #2, they are saying thin for girdle which is good, but it is smaller in diameter than #2

I would request more pictures and videos of #2 and #4. I think they have potential.

You should contact old world diamonds. They have a handful of (sure egl but...) I-j vs stones between .7-.85 under 2500.

Calling them seems to yield the best results

I did email them a couple of days ago, I'll try calling.

What style ring at you doing?

Stuller sells some toi et moi settings that these would sure be cool in

http://www.oldworlddiamonds.com/favorite-diamond-detail.php?ID=32&maxpage=1&sort=favorite&shape=EU&item=diamond&referer=favorite-diamonds

Just a simple white good solitaire. I am not sure what brands each of these places have access to but I don't mind this one by USNY.

Those are beautiful!

I know OWD can get stuller settings, and they have actually a handful of really nice ones.

Those two are probably too expensive, and this may be too wild, but I was just thinking 2 5.5mm stones will be a LOT of finger presence, but still be a simple band.

But I may just be throwing out ideas becuase I think that pair is lovely, lol.

Hopefully calling provides more results from owd

I've looked through the stuller site about 5 times but can't find much with cathedral shoulders (which I do want) that stays between 1.8-2.2 mm, they're either too thin (1mm at the shank base which is too thin) or too wide. The one that Pumpkins got is about the only one that qualifies! Initially I didn't like the ridge things on the donut (is that the donut?) but I think I could get past it for the low cost. And I think it may look better in real life, plus it certainly suits the style of diamond and I like 6 prong settings.

As lovely as those stones are I don't think I could do a two stone, it's just something I can't get my head around :)

Another example of that setting.

I think the detail in the bottom is subtle enough to add a bit of a vintage flavor and hight to the ring without having too too much design

I like that setting a lot, but my favorite OWD setting is this one below. I think you have two really good stones to compare to anything OWD has. Diamondzone has very competitive pricing.

Is the .78 worth a second look if I don't mind out of round?

I initially was most drawn to the .84 so I'll definitely be asking about that one.

That M AVR has a fantastic ASET. It's going to be a sparkler.

It's just not as well cut as the .84 and .70. I wouldn't, but you certainly can explore more. I would want the best cut OEC if not going for an AVR. Plus it's SI1 clarity in EGL grading, so that means it may be a grade lower in clarity, too.

I definitely don't have to be convinced about the beauty of AVRs! But I think M is going to be visibly tinted. I think if you like it, that's what matters. But other people will see it as tinted. A whiter stone is just going to appear brighter. I have seen several AVRs. I will post a picture that isn't great, but it shows a J color in the middle and an I at the bottom, and you can see that the J is just more dull in color.
