Hello, this necklace belonged to my wife's great aunt's mother. Without giving away my wife's age, that would make the necklace about 120 years old. Anything you could tell us about it would be appreciated.

It is artisan glass, possibly from Murano, Italy.
It's hard to tell from your photo, but If that is a screw-type closure, then it is not as old as you think. Maybe 1950s?

Interesting. Yes, it is a screw-type "clasp". Hummm. Thank you!

If your wife's great aunt's mother was alive in the 1950's or so, then it makes perfect sense that she owned this necklace.
Murano, Italy is renowned for artisan glass, and if you search 'Murano glass necklace' on Ebay, you will see many similar examples.
It's a great vintage necklace!

I believe she died in the 30's, but maybe the family "story" was mistaken. Everyone who would know for sure has passed on. Thank you for taking the time to reply. The beads do look similar to the Murano-type stuff you suggested I look up. I haven't seen others with the clear glass "skirts" around them, but the color and decorations on the beads do look like what you've mentioned.

Thank you again for the information and time. We really appreciate it!
