Hello Pricescope''ers!

Long time lurker, first time poster, I''m very lucky to have found this site!!

First things first, we have been on the look-out for an engagement ring for what seems like an eternity....(pun intended!) First we started at the mall stores, and that was horrible. Then we had a horrendous online vendor experience. And ever since, we have yet to find something we both like from a TRUSTWORTHY jeweler. It seems locally, we are striking out.

My finacee has settled on a ring!! Finally! This will be both her engagement and wedding band in one. SHe reads posts here a lot, and advised me to come here for guidance from here on out. The ring is from 5th Ave Jewelers (Deena Jewelers) and from what I take from previous posts, they seem to have a good track record with other pricescope''ers. Since, for some reason, I can''t post a link to the ebay page, it''s ebay item number 8946554916

She likes the baugettes with the rounds, and the side profile of the ring a lot. What do you all think of the ring? It has 2.91cts of round g-vs stones and 2.33cts of g-vs baugettes. Its nice and wide, and 18kt white gold. They are asking $4750, is this fair? I know she wants something wide-ish and substantial and this seems to be both.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Thanks!

your welcome. are you in NY so she would be able to go and try on the ring and see it in person. I guess for me, that is just a lot of $$ to spend on ebay and I would rather make such and important purchase from a reputable vendor..

Well, the ring could be nice, but I''d have my doubts about whether it would be comfortable to wear all the time. She must have long fingers to be able to wear an 8mm ring. I personally would favor an eternity ring from the Signed Pieces Facets Collection. But here is the picture of the ring you''re looking at.

I agree with you about being cautious about doing things via internet. We just are striking out everywhere for a ring.

If not 5th Ave jewelers, who could make something similar? Are they asking too much for it? I am a lot better when asked about which full sized truck to buy, jewelery is another story...

I agree with Diamondseeker that you should look at www.signedpieces.com. there have been many happy pricescopers who have purchased wedding bands from them and they have a very good return policy if something does work right.

I think that band is very pretty but may be a tad uncomfortable to wear on a daily basis. Check out www.thefacetscollection.com. I have bought from them and am thrilled with the quality. They do have a few wide bands. Anyway, just my 0.2, good luck!! ETA: mrssalvo and I posted at the same time, www.signedpieces.com and www.thefacetscollection.com are the same company.

If you're interested in talking to someone at a B&M store in MN, I highly recommend Diamonds Direct in Edina. The website is www.diamondsdirectmn.com - Dana is the person I deal with. They carry a small inventory, but can also either order almost anything you want for less than other stores, or custom make something if you want to go that route. They made a mother's ring for me and I've bought several pieces of jewelry from them.

Well my opinion is that looks uncomfortable, and I''d want to make sure I tried that on before purchasing. Please, please if you decide to buy on ebay make sure you pay with paypal via a credit card. It''s the safest way to make a purchase over the net (credit card)anyway but aside from that paypal won''t give you a refund for that amount and if you use your credit card you can dispute your purchase if you have any problems and shouldn''t have a problem getting your money back. I buy everything online with a credit card then pay it off with the cash. That takes a little bit of the nerves off buying when you have that extra protection from your card company. Good luck. Please let us know what you decide.

the ring is lovely, might take getting used to comfort wise but most women can do it!!! (proper motivation and all that!) I have ebay horror stories and there are lots on this site to read about, I would be sooooo careful about it...I am so over ebay and am very unlikely to get anything off there again...

I agree with everyone else. I think it is a beautful ring but question the comfort. I had such a hard time finding an e-band I liked so we had mine custom made. It is not as expensive as you might think and you get EXACTLY what you want. Just something to consider.

70olds.
You may want to try www.thediamond.com in NY. I purchased a ring from them I am very happy with and am goingback and forth now regarding a band. Athough the one you liked on ebay is a bit big for my taste they emailed me quite a few nice pictures of rings.
They are not a store but more of etailing I gather.
My problem with eternity bands are that my rings always take a lot of abuse on the bottom part of the finger from working around the house etc. I would not want to beat up on diamonds like that and maybe loose one.
There are great bands that don''t go all the way around. I recommend those.
good luck
Sam
