Hey, all!

I'll keep it brief because I'm unsure if this is the place for this kind of thread (or if it's allowed at all) but I'm trying to get some expert help on a project. I'm starting a YouTube series called Nitpicky Bastard where I pick apart movie inaccuracies with science and whatnot, and I'm writing an episode on the 80's adventure classic The Goonies. Specifically what I'm working on is trying to determine the value of the stones found at the end of the film using period-accurate data from 1985 if such data exists (since just finding out today's value and using reverse inflation is incredibly inaccurate). Obviously I have to make a wide variety of assumptions such as what stones they're supposed to be (since they're just glass props) but I estimated the dimensions of the diamonds included in that lot (still need to do the emeralds, rubies, and one lone sapphire) and I'm trying to ask as many experts to double check my work to ensure it's as accurate as possible based on the information I have available.

I can elaborate further if this kind of thing is allowed and if anyone is willing and able to assist. You'll be fully credited in the video for any help offered of course. I reached out to the Gemological Institute and got some information but they were pretty adamant that they're in the business of facts so they didn't want to offer much in the way of hypothetical information.
