Help with a ring setting

I am deciding between these two rings for a diamond I am going to get online (about 3/4 ct, round cut). I really like the designs for these two, and while they look similar, the price difference is pretty big (to me). I know one has more melee diamonds than the other, but if they are both 14k white gold, should they look about the same in real life? I have seen the one from Rogers in real life and love it, and then I see the one from Shane's Co and it looks about the same. Based on the pictures though, the one from Rogers seems to be more shiny - is that just the lighting from the picture, or is it possible for the metal itself to look different even if they are both white gold?

With that said, Rogers has a 35% discount that brings the ring to about $1500. Are the extra melee in the one from Rogers what makes the $900 price difference? Or is Rogers just more expensive?

Thanks for any feedback and opinion!

The Rogers one is by Artcarved, which is a brand name setting manufacturer. It looks to have better design and should overall be higher quality.

That seems a very high price for the Rodgers and Holland setting. Have you checked Gabriel and co or some of the other vendors for price comparison?

The sight doesn't state what clarity and cut the melee are ...I agree the money well spent on the more expensive setting

Solomon Brother's carries Art Carved. They are a PS vendor. I would price shop for that setting. I believe WF also carries or can get Art Carved. And possibly ID Jewelry as well.

Here are some very similar ones by Gabriel and Co which produes a nice setting at
a reasonable price. You might want to check them out.

Edit - let me try that link again. Click on criss cross under Style if they don't automatically come up.

Thank you so much for these responses! I didn't even know about ArtCraft. I looked up their stuff on Solomon Brothers, and they look great! A question though - if I got the diamond online (from James Allen) and now the ring from a place like Solomon Brothers... who will mount it for me? I'm guessing local stores wouldn't do this, since they get like $200 for something where they can lose a lot of money on (I'm assuming they pay for damages?).

You would need to insure you stone before having anyone but JA set it.

What I would do is ask JA Allen if they will set the stone for you in an outside setting.

Great idea with asking JA. Just spoke with them and they said it would be $100 to do, and $30 to send. That's very reasonable.

If I got the diamond at JA and the ring at Rogers (I think after searching around, the setting seems to be reasonably priced after 35% off), would I need to worry about getting it appraised? Or do I only do that after I get the completed, for insurance purposes? And is the insurance on JA (Perfect Circle) a good one?

Thanks!

I would have JA do it then. You are right that is reasonable.

If JA is setting it, have it appraised right after you get it. Then insure.

I am not familiar with JA's perfect circle. You might want to post about that separately and ask.

Thank you! I have asked JA to custom make the ring, and they are going to give me a quote on it in a few days. It makes a lot more sense to do it this way, that's for sure! I'll ask about the insurance in a separate post later. Thanks so much!
