Hi! I'm trying to decide whether this Pear ASET is any good. I know you're supposed to see a lot of red and some green in an ASET, but this one is just mostly green. Is this any good?

Do you have a video of the stone? I find you can tell more from a video then from an aset.

Pear asets are not pretty...this one looks good in my book. However, I withhold judgement until I can see a video...

I currently have it on hold so it says "sold", but here's the video https://www.jamesallen.com/mobile/l...ed/1.46-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-sku-2817645

You're certainly right about Pear ASETs not looking great relatively speaking. This one seems a bit above average with most other pear ASETs I can find online. Does that mean they just aren't as brilliant as other shapes?

Because the stone is very long it shows concentrated yellow towards the tip which will contrast with the near colourless central bright region.
I personally would stay at F for a stone like this and even then you will see a lot of yellow.

Does it matter that it will be going in a rose gold setting? I've heard that you can drop down in the colour scale based on setting. The difference in price between this I and an F is astronomical.

Can you guess why there is such a big price difference?
You might get a 1 grade improvement in color appearnce in a yellow setting. Can you use yellow prongs or bezel and rose gold?

I'm not liking the look...what is your budget? I will post some pears that I think would be nicer. Pears in general do not return as much light as rounds,
nor do they sparkle as much as rounds. You need to find a really nice cut one and love them for their pretty pear shape. If you dont, then a different
shape may be better for you...FYI...I wear a pear ering.

Dont try to gain length by giving on the cut...especially when all its gaining you is more mush at the pointed end. You really want to see crisp, well defined
facets that return light well. When the stone turns you want to see the well defined facets stretch down towards the point end as far as possible and you
want the well lit facets to go up to the top of the rounded edge as far as possible.

Not finding much at JA in that size so I'm just going to post some pears that look nice so you know what to aim for (ignore size/color/clarity). I'm not
even finding all that nice of ones in other sizes.

Let me know what your budget is. Did she ask for a pear?

Interesting. I'm not seeing a huge difference between the one I'm looking at and those three you've posted. What am I looking for exactly? I am seeing the facets turn "on" and "off" all over on these.

She did ask/hint specifically for a pear. I'm trying to get the largest size and best cut I can. The one I posted is "on paper" in the 1A/1B range here: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/pear-cut-diamond

As far as budget goes, I'm looking at about 9,000 Canadian for the stone, which is roughly 7,000-8,000 USD.

Please let me know if you can find something better! Thanks a ton for your help so far.
