Okay, I'm not looking to buy this ring at the moment, because there is still quite some time before my one year anniversary with my girlfriend. There's still a good 5 months until I must buy this ring for her.

(Skip over this if you don't want to read a little background on my relationship)
You might be asking why am I so worried about this gift now... well it is because the original present that I intended on giving her on that day is now ruined. That present was going to be a black acoustic guitar (something she always wanted and now has because her parents bought it for her). So now I've decided that a ring would be a wonderful and just as meaning present. I love this chick (and we are both in college right now... young, I know). And I'm sure many of you will look and say that first loves won't last. I don't blame you for saying that. But to give you an idea of how different this relationship is I'll give you a little info on it. I've know her since 7th grade. Became great friends in 10th and during senior year we became almost like a couple. Not a big deal right? Well kinda is, because during that whole time I was straight... but a fell for her (yes I am a girl myself... please don't judge. I'm just telling you this because I believe it is important for you to understand that this relationship means a lot to me... it changed my life completely). She is the most amazing person in my eyes. Yes, she is my first love... But I'm technically not her first love... maybe first "real" love, but certainly not the first person she has been with. So this one year anniversary gift must be special. Cause in her past relationship she wasn't treated right... an really never had received a real present from her EXs during their times together.

Ring:
I'm looking for a simple white gold band
A few diamonds on it (clear or blood red stones would be nice) -Three Stoned ring perfered-
The band shouldn't be too thin (I don't want a thick school/super bowl ring)
She loves roses... so if there is a nice ring with that it would be nice (but this is not needed)

I don't have that much cash...
About 300 dollars. I know it's not much...

Please if you know of any rings that I might be interested in, give a reply.

Don't flame or judge me. Lol. This community seems friendly from what I can tell. Thank you so much for your time.

hmm channel set ruby and diamond ring in white gold would be perfect.
1/2 to 3/4 eternity style.

So nice! Thank you for telling the story.

Best of luck to both of you

About the ring... I would avoid getting something that looks too much like an engagement or wedding band.

You know what she would consider meaningful allot better than I can.

'Black acoustic guitar' makes me think of something like these Probably a wider middle-finger ring. Engraving (free option) would probably work for the occasion, but this... you would know.

Thank you for you replys.

I''m glad to tell my story to anyone who wants to listen.

About the ring for Ice.com, it''s nice, but not something my girlfriend would wear. However, the second one is something more her style (the keepsake one). Simple band (not stones sticking out of it). I''m not sure if she is a person for many stones on her ring or a few stones that are better quality. Keep the help coming, I am grateful for the replies.

If band rings are OK...

Do you know her ring size?

If 5... try this I have not tried on this one, but usually like most pieces by Stern.

Speaking of size... earrings don''t need any fitting. Next to that ring, there are a couple of Hardy earrings with diamonds (bar and hoops). The pave work is pretty good in these pieces - judging from the few I have seen.

My 2c. I wish I knew the lady''s style to have something to go on.

Btw:

Happy Holidays!

Something very simple:

And a handful of very classic styles with diamonds and rubies - down this link
I like a few of the bands with diamond and colored 'dots'. The less gem-studded styles should be posible to find for way less though.

are about $300 to begin with:

I really like the ring in the bottom left that Valeria posted. Garnet is also a nice stone to use and is even more "blood red" than rubies in my opinion. They are also the January birthstone and look exceptional with diamonds and/or in either white or yellow gold.
Congratulations on your relationship and your anniversary.

Wow... thank you for all the help. I''m still looking, cause I want this ring to be "perfect."

My girlfriend''s style:
She is more of the "darker", punk, mainly rocker type of girl. She is the badass (but really isn''t). Most people at first glance would say that she''s pretty, yet b*tchy looking. The girl mainly is simple in her clothing. Boots (rocker boots= straps, metal). Skater shoes. Jeans. Button up shirts or Wifebeaters. This is why I would like a simple band ring. But this does not mean I''m excluding everything else. A diamond or stone sticking out, is not out of the question, but I don''t think it would fit my girlfriend well.

(sorry for the language, but this is really the way to discribe my girlfriend)

I also like the bottom left ring... and the one that has the one red stone is also nice (but with that one... having a diamond on each side, would look better in my opinion).

I''m taking my time with this ring... because in the time from now till i must actually buy the ring, i''m sure more rings will come out.

Please keep posting... and keep me in mind, if you are to run into a ring that you believe would be of my interest. (there is still time till the anniversary).

I love that bottom right ring that Val posted...envision kind of a mix between the one that she posted with garnets and also the one that Belle posted with just diamonds, something with a mix would be great OR with three lined up stones in a row but with burnished metal between them, like a diamond then a ruby in the middle then a diamond in a burnished gold or white gold wider band would be sweet. Very modern and yet classic in terms of the use of the stones. I will have to see if I can find anything...I could have sworn I saw something like that around, now COST..who knows...I probably saw it in some overpriced mag. Let's see.

Mara the Three stoned ring is something that i''ve been looking for. A ruby or Garnet in the middle, with one diamond on each side, and a nice white gold band. That would be simple, yet eye catching and I think that would fit for my girlfriend. Problem is the price and where to find that. Thank you for all the help so far.

Three stone... with small burnished stones like that it should be quite straightforward. With the small stones involved, most of the cost is the setting.

Maybe try Wink's? link to webpage

And it could also be a trio of Rhodolite garnet and white sapphire, about 1 ct and $100 each. The sapphires could look like these and it can't be that hard to find a matching red garnet. The setting would be another story (and expense). Perhaps the seller of the stones could find one - for calibrated stone sizes these are not difficult. It can't hurt to ask.

Hey another question... But if I buy a ring online, can I get a saying engraved in the ring from any Jeweler? or you must buy a ring from a certain Jeweler to have them engrave something? And What is an average pricing of an engraving?

Any jeweler can do this, online or elsewhere. The charge shouldn''t be too much.

Thank you for the reply, I''m glad to hear that the cost won''t run me too much.

Hey Val, where did you find the first ring you posted? The one with one stone.

The picture comes from Titanium Era

If Ti is a relevant option, I must have seen three stone rings done in similar manner too.

For example this:

b-a1d_di.jpg

$280 from RingsForever 'up to 8mm wide with 7 pts diamond' ($225)
& easy to see in red.

And a custom versions that should be do-able with garnet or ryby (syntetic or not). Since the price quotes must be mostly about the diamonds, I'd ask about their cost with alternative stones.

b-a1d_di3.jpg

Custom: details not given (no quote) Custom: 8mm, size 4¾, diamonds 5 to 25 pts (no quote)

There are countless variations of band rings in their online catalog and it sounds like you cold customize anything and everything.

And some shops do internal engraving for free... Basically, there would be some room for variation on the theme.
'Rings Forever' does it: somewhere on their website is written "All pricing includes complimentary inside-ring engraving, up to 40 characters". It isn't the easiest thing to navigate that website (but it doesn't sound like fancy website design went into the prices either!)

You may want to try SJC if you are certain of her ring size. I bought a three stone garnet ring from them set in a wide ribbbed SS band. The items offered change but it might be worth keeping your eye on.
If you have five months you may be albe to contact someone like Wink Jones and ask him to help you create what you are looking for.

Something like this but with garnets perhaps?

I love the one from rings forever! Nice find!

Thank you so much for all the ring options. I''ve been looking at so many different rings for the past days and i am thankful for your imput. As of right now I''ve found a ring from szul.com.

Here''s the ring:
RGF4901.jpg

This is one of the top ones I''m considering right now. Even though it''s all diamonds... and there are no colored stones, I like the shape of that ring. If I could find a three stoned ring (w/colored stones or not) and also has that ring style... I think that would be nice. But the ones you guys have listed are great. Some I wish I could afford though. Like the three stoned ring Val listed from sndgems.com.

Personally, I think these are the "bad-ass-iest". I dig ''em & can totally picture your girlfriend (as you describe her) LOVING them.

Considering I myself am a rocker chick, I think any of the titanium bands will go over well. The one page with all the titanium rings also offered them in black diamonds and I''ve always thought that looked pretty cool, especially for someone into goth/punk kinda stuff. Also what kind of jewlery does she wear now? If she''s wearing chunky bold silver jewelry......or anything like studded bracelets ect I think the titanium would fit right in. Anything too girly would look wierd you know?

I like those rings but they seem more like rings I''d get her for a random present. Shouldn''t a one year anni ring be a lil more girly? The thing about those titanium bands... i kinda want those in white gold. But I don''tknow yet, I''ll still consider them and look like crazy for "the" ring.
