Help with a Meghan Markle inspired ring..doing my best, but need guidance!

I loved the Meghan Markle ring as soon as I saw it and wanted to do my own back up ring with that design in mind. I don’t want to get in trouble for posting a moissanite ring here so I will only speak to what the cut could look like with a square ACC diamond instead of what she has, which I believe is an elongated modern brilliant cut. I went with .50 carat sides but I think her’s looks closer to .75 in the pic. I also copied the 18K yellow and white gold in a trellis setting. It sits higher than a regular setting but I like the idea of having the band sit flush with the ring.

How fun too to see and hear “real life” BG. He’s recutting some diamonds for me right now and it somehow makes the process feel more personal :mrgreen2:

I hope you post pictures of your diamonds after they've been recut by Brian's team. I know they're going to look AMAZING.

I just watched a video of MM’s jewelry and posted the link in the forum with the royal jewelry thread. It was a fun watch and showed some of her jewelry up close.

EDIT: Link in the “Jewelry Pieces” forum with a sticky (so at the top).

Sawaye2010, your ring is beautiful. The side stones look great because you do not have an elongated cushion. Same with the other posters above. acv123 pics show the elongated cushion (which I do not prefer anyway) with the rounds and I am not a fan. I also think that if the elongated center stone was a colored gem-say an emerald or sapphire rather than a diamond then I would perhaps like it better.

Looks like our OP has gone.

How fun to see the BG interview!

How is the search going?

I just wanted to fangirl and say this is one of my favorite colored stone rings OF ALL TIME and I may need to make my own version one day!
I have to chime in and agree - also my MIL is looking to reset and loves this as an inspiration. @msop04 you have such a beautiful ring there!
Also re the BG interview - how amazing was that huge haloed stone he’d brought for comparison?:eek2:

Thank you!

Meghan Markle engagement ring is a simple ring to make.
It is a three stones diamond ring, the side stones should be 1/4 of the carat weight of the center stone.

It is a low profile ring so 3 earring baskets for the prongs head will do the job.

Love This
I wanted to show you my bezeled cushion three stone with round sides by DK so you can see what that would look like. For reference, the cushion is 7.5 x 7 mm, the sides are 3.5 mm, and my ring size is 4.75. Hope this helps!

I'm just coming across this thread, I'm not sure where you are in the process, but I'm really loving this look. I had my original diamond reset in a mounting by Maytal Hannah, and although it is different from your design, I think you should see how delicate the ring can be made when it's handmade. I saw samples of other rings and they looked heavy and the prongs thick. I know that she offers diamonds as well, though I had my own, but at least for the mounting you might want to consider contacting her. I can't wait to see how this ring comes out!_25963.jpg_25964.jpg

Thank you ALL for all of your help!!! We're moving along. With your help I feel like I have the best in the biz working on this dream ring...@Rhino Jonathan finding me the perfect stones and DK making setting. If I had not found this forum a year ago I would have never found either. I'll be very excited to share once the ring is made. Some feedback so far:
-Jonathan at AVinc. I was not prepared for how awesome this guy is. I've been staring at those AVCs for a year but I didn't know that the guy behind this spectacular work would be such an absolute pleasure to work and collaborate with. I called on a weekend night (probably about 930 pm ny time) to leave a message..yes I was very excited to let him know I wanted to work with him. Never expected him to pick up..but he did, from a sushi bar! And heard me out and got the ball rolling all on his own personal time. And I'm so glad he did pick up, because he's such a tremendously kind, down to earth, no nonsense guy who strikes you as helpful and trustworthy from the very first moment. This was a relief. I was in the right place. I spent endless nights hemming and hawing over diamond vs moissy AVCs (which I never before knew existed) and I went w/the moissy's (my gf loves them and she thought it was by far the smarter move). Plus finding/cutting a 3ct diamond avc would have taken quite a while. The 1:1.1 avc cusion will be paired w/2 OEC round 5mm moissy's along side. Jonathan literally pulled 20 different views of megans ring from the internet to be sure we got the beautiful ratios she has just right. Soon those rounds will be cut and sent over to DK. Moissy or Diamond, it's an awesome feeling to know your stones are cut by the best on the planet and that except for the rings of many of the the PSers here, it will sparkle in a way that almost no other stones out there do. Sorry Harry Winston, you ain't got stones like these!
-DK - Another awesome find, and thank you guys on this particular thread for sending me his way. As a perfectionist I wanted to ask about every little detail (how pointy are the prong tips etc etc). Turns out he was miles ahead of me and every detail already considered and artfully decided upon. I honestly can't improve upon it! Although @diamondseeker2006 you mentioned about alloys? Is there more to know or ask for besides "do it in platinum lol"?

-Last comment..i'll post the ring here when complete but where's the "right" place to post stuff like that..over in the show me the bling forum?

Thanks all for your help. Thanks a MILLION Jon if you read this. I'm so pumped about this process.
and @msop04 that ring is gorgeous!!

Cheers!

Good for you! Jon is such a pleasure to deal with, I agree!

Platinum alloys:

These are the two hardest and most scratch resistant...

1) 90% platinum/10% iridium Often preferred by makers of handforged rings.

2) 95% platinum/5% ruthenium This is the hardest and works well with cast settings (which would be what DK would make you).

So tell DK you want the second option unless he says they prefer the first. Either is fine. The standard alloy is usually 95%plat/5%iridium and it is softer and scratches more making the gray patina appear (rather than a shiny finish). My e-ring is 5 years old and still doesn't need to be polished!

Congratulations! If it's a mossy you'll probably want to show it on the fashion jewelry forum due to the rules. Look forward to seeing it though!

How exciting! I can't wait to see how this turns out!! Keep us posted!

I am very excited about your project and looking forward to the outcome....:appl::appl::appl:
