Hi!

Really appreciate the assistance of the forum.

I'm looking for a roughly 2 carat round diamond for an engagement ring.

I narrowed my selection on James Allen to four diamonds based on my reading so far and the HCA.

Let me know how I did and what I should be looking for next.

Thank you

You've picked 3 stones with low crown angles which usually arent favored around here. The only one that has a high crown
(number 3) is a tad on the deep side. I would pick 3 of them (number 3 being one of them) and request idealscope images.

My other choices would probably be the top 2 (going from more what I like to see than going from the numbers) but you
could pick the other two from which appeals to you the most.

Post the idealscope images. Hopefully the stones are in the NY area so they can get them images.

Thank you for the replies

Unfortunately all of the ones I posted, as well as the ones you found, are not local, so the search continues...

The JamesAllen team offered up these three as possibilities:

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.82-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-242866
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.81-carat-g-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-488497
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.80-carat-f-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-261731

They don't have all of the details (crown/pavilion) so I can't run them through HCA. Otherwise do they look worthy of further diligence?

Thanks again.

The certificates themselves have all of the information you need for the HCA tool. If you open them up you'll see a schematic view of the diamond with all the angles and percentages. It seems like the numbers just weren't transcribed onto the webpage.

It occurred to me that my last post may have sounded dismissive of your actual question. I'm just too new to all this to offer anything beyond the basic stuff I've learned in the last few weeks. Best of luck with your search!
