Please give me some advice on whether I should even consider the purchase of this round brilliant diamond and if so what approx price should it be? From studying your forum and lots of other internet reading, I am at the stage where a little bit of knowledge is dangerous and have some questions??? about this stone, but it is from a reputable dealer who has always been straight with us in the past. Sparkle and brilliance along with size are the most important factors to me. I am trading up from 2.26 H color SI2 clarity-- not sure about the current cut grade-cant find the orig certificate, but have always been happy with the stone...hubby wants to spoil me...but not too much!!

3.04 carat (9.38-9.48 x 5.82 mm)
J Color
VS1 clarity
Depth 61.7%
Table 56%
Crown Angle 30.5
Pavillion Angle 43.2
Star length 50
Lower half 80
Girdle Thin to slightly thick, faceted
Culet Very Small
Polish Very Good
Symmetry Good
Flourescence None

how much is it? is it an online stone? and if so, can you get pictures?

29,500, no not online, We did see the stone, but as I said we have enough knowledge to be dangerous...dealer is kind of an old fashioned guy, without all the tools suggested on this site...

Numbers are very unorthodox. I''ve never seen a picture of a stone with such proportions. Maybe someone else might be able to advise. But otherwise, I would probably get an Ideal Scope and learn how to use that, or compare it to more traditional, near-Tolkowsky proportions.

Are the crown and pavillion #''s the problem? If so, what does that affect?

Yes. There could be a lot of light leakage. Also, that shallow of a crown angle could possibly present a durability problem at the thin points.

I echo Julies suggestions for sure. And when comparing it to other stones, I'd do it away from the jewelers lights, which makes everything look good.

thanks Julie and Ellen!
