Help - What is this ring?

Looks like an antique ring with a cameo on it made of Calcedony (Carnelian, is usually that orangy brown color), or it could be Coral, or even plastic.

My grandmother had a pendant like it, until we took it to a jeweler to fix and he said it was plastic, and you can tell if it's not cold at all to touch. If it is, it could be Carnelian, imitation (Gilson) coral possibly reddish orange jade or even plastic...
