HELP - wedding band to go with e-ring with surprise diamond

Hi,

My e-ring has surprise diamonds on both sides (https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-ring-1-67-ct-vs2-j.80212/), and now I''m fretting that any wedding band that I get to go with it will slowly be worn away by the surprise diamond on the side closest to the wedding band!

Does anyone here wear their wedding band with an e-ring with surprise diamond? Does the wedding band get scratched up? I want a wedding band with milgrain edges, which I''m afraid will get worn away. Am I doomed to wear my e-ring on my right hand once I get get the wedding band? What are some other solutions?

I have to assume that this ring was designed so a matching wedding band could be used along with it. My first suggestion would be to go back to the jewelry store he purchased it from and they might already have a band that goes along with it.

If that doesn''t work, I''d have a band custom made to work around that secret diamond. By the way, I saw pictures of the ring, and I think it''s gorgeous. Who''s the designer?

I know crazydogs had a problem with her Scott Kay trellis setting with the surprise diamond. The rings were wearing away at each other. She had them soldered together. You may have to do the same. I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe an ultra thin spacer ring? I'm not sure how that will look. Do you have any particular bands in mind? Scott Kay update by crazydogs.

Scott Kay e-rings have matching w-bands... I would expect them to be made so they can be worn together without damage.

But, from the pictures it does look like the surprise diamond is sticking out a lot. If a band isn''t made to go without that ring, then maybe a custom band that is curved?

I know Maytal is making my e-ring so it''s "beveled out" (I think that''s how she described it). So, the outer perimeter of the ring is narrower in width than the inside perimeter (e.g. so the shank where it touches the finger may be 2mm but on top where the pave is it might be 1.8mm). The w-band will be made the same, so when worn together, just the edges of the rings'' inside perimeters will touch/rub.

I''m not sure about the designer, but there''s a stamp on the inside that says RSN. It''s from Amoroso Jewelers in Boston.

I went back to the jewelers that made the ring, and the matching band doesn''t appear to have anything special about it that would prevent it from being worn away -- it sits right against the surprise diamond!

I like the "beveled out" idea -- maybe I will have a ring custom made that will work with the surprise diamond. I definitely don''t want to solder them together, because I''ll be starting med-school this fall (and will hopefully be a doctor someday), and probably will only wear the wedding band to school/work since lab gloves don''t really fit over the e-ring (I tried it...and failed...and loose lab gloves annoy me to no end).

I want the wedding band to look normal by itself and match my fiance''s band, so I''m not sure I want it to be curved, but I could give that a try as well.

The spacer idea might work too, but I have to figure out whether or not I like the look...

Is scratching a big problem if I only wear the e-ring and wedding band together on weekends and to special events? I guess gold is soft and diamonds are hard so even this might scratch up the wedding band too much.

Sigh...I love me e-ring, but the surprise diamond is definitely going to cause some issues!

The ring is lovely. Maybe try a channel set band with it and see if you like that.
