Hi all!

I have come a long way and did a lot of reasearch in finding a good value diamond. I am however unfamiliar with the IDEAL-Scope Tool.

This is one diamond I consider buying: GIA 1248448721

It has a very good HCA score of 1.1 (although the crown hight is only 14.5%)

I have received some images of the diamond but I don't know how to read them. Can anyone give an opinion? Help would be greatly appreciated! The diamond is priced in the USD 6200 range.

one more image I believe belongs to the stone:

The HCA is a rejection tool, and a number <2 does not automatically mean that your stone is a winner, it means that it is worth investigating further potentially. The idealscope is a tool to help assess symmetry in cut. Cut is king because it has the biggest impact on diamond performance and therefore how big and shiny your diamond appears.

What I see here is that the idealscope confirms what I can see in the closeup shots, which is that the diamond is not symmetric, which should impact performance. I would pass on this because better cut can definitely be had.

It would probably be helpful to figure out what your budget, clarity, and color specifications are. If you know what they are, PS can help you narrow down some choices.

looks good to me. The numbers are fine. NO significant leakage, although the IS image is poorly taken (there seems some light interference at 75 degree. . The arrows are a bit thin to my taste, though this is my personal pref.

I couldn't bring up the Bn stone on my iPad, so I'll have to take a look on my computer. Wanted to toss this out there. It's a I with Fluor Brian Gavin has a special grouping of stones with Fluor. (Gives them a little discount). All the work is already done for you in terms of performance assessment because they are all cut within his special specs. I had a .92 I from him with med Fluor that was one of the nicest diamonds I've had so far and faced up whiter than the GIA h I traded in to him before that. (I tend to look at BGD first because I am most familiar with his search tools but will look at yours and Whitflash next.)

My pardon, it's been a long while since I've been here, but I understood the hearts and arrows viewer was to view symmetry whilst ideal scope shows light return leakage issues (if any) and also arrow symmetry.

Still on the iPad so I looked up the reports. They both look good on paper...sure would be good to see some visuals. If you like chunkier arrows, the first one has 75% lower girdle facets (a personal fave for me) as opposed to 80% on the second. You can google lgf to see videos of different arrow length. I am fairly sure Good Old
Gold made some comparisons.

ETA- looked up the first one on BN and they had a video. Seems nice. Since they were able to do a video, is it in house? And can they do an idealscope for you?
